After reading an article on the front page of /r/technology about the Chaos Community Club website being blocked, I decided to go over to blocked.org.uk to see what kinds of sites were blocked. This is what I found when I put in erowid.org. capture

Erowid provides extremely important information about many different types of drugs and how one should safely dose. Erowid saves lives. It's disgusting to see such an incredible source of information being withheld from the general population in the UK.

Overall, I am not surprised that it is being blocked, but I am angry that their filter is being used on this, because the only thing gained by blocking this site is a great ignorance on how to use and dose drugs, and you lose the firsthand accounts of certain drugs.. which has, in the past, stopped from trying certain substances. cough cough, datora.

Edit: meant to say blocked by 10/12 major ISP filters.

Update: one less filter is blocking erowid. So maybe this post had an impact. Head over to that site and fill out the form.

This is indirect censorship from the government. The government mandated ISPs implement filter solutions of the ISPs choice. The ISPs apply these filters on all new costumers connections. After going through formal processes customers are capable of opting out of, at least, some of the censorship. Increasingly this censorship occurs with existing accounts. Cameron has articulated the goal is every household having default selective internet censorship.

This is how YOU could protect others and Erowid
-------------------------------------------------------
-This policy isn't legally imposed. United Kingdom citizens are capable of opposing future legislation enforcing this censorship.
-Because the filters get implemented at the ISP level complaining directly could have Erowid.org removed from the blocked list. If you live in the United Kingdom call the phone number on your internet bill and explain Erowid.org is a harm reduction site.
-If you live outside of the United Kingdom explain Erowid.org is a harm reduction site here. https://www.blocked.org.uk/results?url=http://Erowid.org

It's not a forced filter, users can opt out at any time.
It's basically a government controlled adult content filter users can use if they desire.
It also bans pornography etc and there'd be a god damn riot if the government in the UK just up and banned pornographic websites.
Also yes they did ban female ejaculation in pornography which is created in the UK for sale and viewing in the UK

^Wtf, although that is just random fetish that does nothing for me, at the same time it seems pretty harmless. Porn gets much worse than that.
