Most stimulating and most sedating opioids

Which opioids are the most stimulating and which are the most sedating?

Out of the ones I've taken I'd say oxycodone was the most stimulating and hydrocodone or morphine were the most sedating.
 
most stimulating - oxycodone
most sedating - poppy tea, and for actual substance morphine, although not as much as the tea.

I find hydrocodone to be a nice middle ground between the two.
 
stimulating:
oxycodone
tramadol
bupenorphine (some say the opposite, I think it depends on tolerance)

sedating:
morphine/heroin (I'd conjecture hydromorphone/oxymorphone would be too, but I haven't taken them)
methadone


footnotes:
-Tramadol is stimulating like a motherfucker, but thats for more than opioidergic (if thats a word) effects (norepinephrine)
-And for methadone, it as well has other methods of action (NMDA) contributing to its sedative effects.
 
stimulating: oxy, iv hydromorphone (for the first couple minutes at least)
sedating: morphine, iv fentanyl
 
Most stimulating is tramadol obviously. It's an SNRI and an SSRI too.

Most sedating would be morphine and diamorphine.

I disagree, slightly. I think IV fentanyl can be stimulating. Just like with oxy, it depends on the dose. If you take a high enough dose you'll nod out on fentanyl, but if you have a tolerance and take a "normal" dose you can get stimulating effects from fent.

I don't mean to nitpick but you can just call it a SNRI. It stands for serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, so that title works fine. It isn't an SSRI technically, if its not selective (meaning specific to the reuptake of serotonin only). SSRIs could just be called SRIs, if we used a standard notation that whatever isn't in the name isn't involved in reuptake. Sorry for the nitpick.
 
Oxycodone is the most stimulating. I dunno, tramadol is pretty stimulating too, but addicts wouldn't enjoy it.

Heroin is hands down the noddiest of them all. The ruthless, unrelenting nod, that you have to use your hands to keep your eyes open.
 
oxycodone and oxymorphone are stimulating. Oxymorphone is veryyy stimulating.
i would agree morphine is sedating.
 
i remmeber once taking 250 mg of codeine and 50 mg chlorpromazine and i kept nodding off every 2 minutes, hitting my forehead on the table in the process
 
i found iving around 40mg oxy was stimulating, anything around 80mg made me nod pretty hard. tramadol is very stimulating for me as well, but can catch a nod from time to time. bupe is somewhat stimulating as well. bupe has been making me very apathetic the last few days as well, so hopefully a switch of meds for me.

morphine and methadone have been the most sedating for me. a nice shot of morphine and nodding out for a few hours is lovely
 
hydrocodone and oxycodone both seem to be stimulating to some degree.
I found morphine to be highly sedating relative to the others, does anyone think this is due to the difference between one being a true opiate and the others being synthetic opioids?
