Opioids Most Prescribed Medicine Of The Year.. How?

The most popular described drug of the year was Vicodin. Im confused of HOW over all the other medical conditions depression, anxiety, pain *non-opiates*, cholsterol... all of that just seems like they would be prescribed more than vicodin.

Why is this?

edit: Why the hell are doctors saying it should be banned, its a painkiller and no more addicting that percocet..
