I will probably pick it up but it will just be a reminder of how much I miss playing fighting games at arcades with actual groups of people. There was something special about being in a dark and smoky arcade, huddled around a mortal kombat machine with 25 other people, all trying to beat whomever was kicking everyone’s ass that day.
There were times in Chinatown where someone would have the machine for HOURS, beating every single person that went up against them. At the real underground spots they would almost always be playing for quarters, if you lost you had to give the winner a quarter to pay for their game. Some of those kids were insane players, especially when it came to King Of Fighters or Street fighter.
