they're different drugs, and are going to affect you differently. Just start with a dose of about 20mgs Oxycontin and work your way up from there (assuming you don't have a high tolerance).

Narcotic conversion charts claim oxycodone is 1.5X stronger than morphine. That sounds about right.
Imo, 50mg of morphine would be safe and fun for a newbie.

It's really hard to say. When you're talking about killing pain, you can come up with an equivellent dose. But as far as getting high, they're very different and hardly compare.
Oxycodone gives a euphoric high even at a fairly low dose. Morphine can kill pain at a low dose, but isn't very recreational unless you use a higher dose. And it's effects make you more groggy and not wanting to do anything. You'll feel good, but you're not going to feel all happy and talkative like you would on oxycodone. It also produces a lot more side effects.
If you have a low tolerance or no tolerance at all, 100mgs of MSContin is going to have you sick as a dog. You will be sweating and itching uncontrollably and you will no doubt be puking. When my tolerance was up to about 40mgs of oxycodone to really have a good time, 120mgs of morphine via MSContin was too much. So I would say no more than 60mgs (basically split the pill and use 50mgs) if you aren't very opiate tolerant.
The other thing to consider is the time release. The time release on MSContin works VERY well. If you take the pill whole or just broken in half, the effects can easily last from 12-14 hours. This means you're just getting hit over and over and it wouldn't be suprising if you went to bed and woke up messed up and then ended up puking in the morning. So you probably want to consider crushing it up when you take it.

Personally, I use to sniff MS100's and it didn't burn. However, the whole sniff/drip didn't feel "comfortable" like Oxycontin. In my opinion a MS100 is like a OC40, but with more side effects. I always got edgy from the MS's maybe it was just me. Personally I'm getting opiate clean and I'm doing good. Its not easy kicking opiates.

Opiates are starting to make me edgy too! Maybe it's my antidepressant, but the euphoria with percocets lately has been coming with a sort of aggrivation - at least for now it's really easy to shake off.
Morphine is a whole nother' can of worms than oxycontin. An inexperienced opiate user can easily do 20-40mg oxy and not puke, etc. But even moderate user will find it's easy to nod or toss your lungs with as low as 60mg morphine.
Take the advice about hitting the 50 instead of full 100, and I wouldn't worry too much and just try to enjoy it

I agree, Oxy seems to have mental effect that is almost similar to ampetamine ontop of the opiate euphoria.. You feel tlakative and excited.. Morphine lacks this.

Silverfucked: Yes! You hit the nail on the head. I always feel like I just took a low dose of ritalin, in that I feel edgy and kinda irritable but don't get the high dose ritalin euphoria. It's getting pretty annoying anyway, and I almost missed the relaxed buzz I got from vicodin, but it just wasn't that strong.
Looks like heroin is my answer. Time for a trip to the bay area

I would say that 100mg of MS-Contin is equivilent to 40-60mg of OC. For your first time I would take about 30mgs to start out and work your way up from there. Just watch drinking heavily while on it or you'll pass out...

Screw that, if I could get my tolerance back to zero, I'd go back to my Percocet habit which is an easy to manage addiction. I use opiates to feel good, I don't need to be bombed out of my mind and I can hardly get high off of heroin anymore anyways in less than a year. I was able to get high on Percocet for YEARS. All I had to do was keep my doses low and use once or twice a week and take a few weeks off here and there.

With all do respect. How can anyone say oxycodone is stronger then morphine. Take mgs of morphine and take 80mgs of oxy and you can honestly tell me oxys are stronger and a better high? Come guys.

godfather: its possible you arent metabolising the morphine the same as other people, because as most, if not all, of the people here will tell you, oxycodone is definitely stronger than morphine. takes me about 60mg IV morphine to get even close to nodding, while it takes me 40mg oxy; altho with oxy, i dont get in quite the dream state that i do with morphine or smack.
