Opioids Morphine IR 15 is not cutting it for me - intense pain and pissed off

No worries, normal questions to have :) (plus I deal with gastritis on a regular basis so this is nothing new)
All those suggestions you were given are good ones, you will have to be more aware of your digestion and regularity if you're on pain management. My doctors both recommended Senokol-S for the constipation, it's a natural laxative with a stool softener (Senokol without the -S at the end doesn't have the softener, which is the most common "Stool Softener" you'll find at CVS).

Morphine is one of the worst for causing constipation as well, you should see some improvement with that if you can make the switch to mostly Opana. 5 days isn't anything dangerous unless you're having a lot of pain with it, and I'd assume you haven't been eating a whole lot too--but if you could try the Senokol tonight you'd probably get some relief. (I also try to go in the morning before I use any opiates for the day, though obviously that isn't always possible)

That's too bad they were out of Opana at the pharmacy too, I had to go to 4 places to pick up my script on Thursday too (I wasn't trying to wait until Monday either lol).

It really is amazing how few instructions they give sometimes--both with potent narcotics and the other stuff that can be really beneficial. Like my PM doc can be a little spacey and he gave me Protonix for my stomach but neglected to tell me to take it as soon as I get up on an empty stomach, which made it like 5x more effective, but it took the pharmacist telling me that the second time I filled it to find that out...
That's why forums like this can be so helpful, those little instructions can make a big difference in the efficacy as well as safety of medication, and it's good to have unbiased people to be able to ask.

Taz, so so glad you seem to have an intelligent, caring pain doctor. After reading about your condition, I just hurt for you. My mom had the Suicide Disease, and I saw her screaming for days until it subsided--on its own and has never returned. I have not read up on it much since then, but now I wonder if that is a normal presentation for that disease?

The protocol the doc is pursuing sounds solid. And that you got relief from the block is amazing! So happy for you.

For many of us cpp's, our pain doctor stories make for scary reading. I think I will take the advice above and start scooting mine toward the 3 week mark, if I ever get another one--long story, may lose my pd in January due to my own stupid dosing of mscontin when my appt. hit in the middle of a travel week for me at work. I took some which had been given to me a few months ago as an experiment that did not work out. I was going to be 5 days without anything, and between my chronic pain issues and the wd's that floored me, I took some of the mscontin. I forgot that my clinic now does ua's on every visit, and really did not think it would be an issue since it was a med prescribed before...but anyway, long story and not for here!

Are you using nutrition and exercise as well as your pain meds? I would love to hear what else you are doing as you build a life in spite of the pain. You keep that up! And let us hear from you. It helps so much!
