Opioids Morphine headache/panic shots

it's been years since I was even interested in IV'g morphine, but I've always been curious about something:

I used to get pure liquid morphine from a doctor for IV use. I would inject approximately 110mg at a time, 4-5 times a day for two or three years. I was, of course, well used to the pins and needles feeling that comes with a morphine rush, and though I hate that feeling now I used to love it.

Sometimes, though--maybe one shot out of every 100--the rush would hit me differently. Badly. I did the same amount every time. Once the shot was in my heart would start pounding like crazy and I'd get a weird dizzy, sinking feeling. One minute later, I'd have an unbelievable headache.

Maybe it had to do with my own anxiety causing the drug to function differently, but most of the time it seemed to come out of the blue. It happened to my ex-wife too--we used together--and she wasn't very anxious generally. Once her hit went so badly she stumbled to the bathroom and pissed herself. I poured her a cool bath, talked to her constantly and she got better (but she got one hell of a headache).

I also experienced this with crushed MS Contin, but not as often.

Can anyone explain this?

100mg IV Morphine is alot.

In the hospital, that amount would be infused over like10-15 minutes into your IV to prevent that pins and needles feeling it gives you. Also I find if you do it over a period of a few minutes the rush still comes on, but lasts longer, or at least thats my opinion, having only done IV morphine in the hospital when my leg was all fucked up and I already had a massive opiate tolerance.

100-120 mg is a lot for a typical person in the hospital, but it's not a huge amount for a junkie with a tolerance. I know others who use 200mg at a time. after a while it doesn't get you fucked up much at all. I was using the liquid morphine through law school and graduated near the top of my class.

besides, my point is that the 110 or so mg at a time was fine 99 times out of 100, but that I would get a weird reaction sometimes.

I have this right now! I just shot two 60 mg morphine sulfates. I got a really bad histamine reaction with pins and needles which faded fairly quickly but now my head is pounding with every beat of my heart. I'm a little scared bc/ I mostly shoot dilaudid. this was my first shot of IV morphine and if this is what it's like I'll never try it again! Do you guys think the headache could be from the histamine reaction as well? My head is fucking pounding and I'm a bit scared right now...

headache is all but gone completely now, but I can still feel it faintly. I just sat with my eyes closed and waited for several minutes and the headache cranked itself down a bit. I am fairly high, but I think I will be ingesting my MS from now on. That was definitely not worth the pain, and I found it terrifying for a first experience. If I hadn't stumbled upon this post I probably would have driven to the ER or something lol. So yeah OP I know exactly what you mean. That sucked.
