Opioids Morphine hcl IM

Hey all,

I acquired some medicinal morphine hcl 99%. I've got some ampules I'll IM.
It will be my first time IM. I've got all the 'equipment' to shot it as healthy as possible.
What dose should I IM? i've got a little opiate tolerance from using tramadol up to 300mg...
Are their any things I should know about IM'ing in the thigh except the basics you find around the internet?

clean the area with soap and water. use a new needle. ive never IMed anything but I have IVed about 20mg of morphine once, the rush was out of this world but after that i didnt really notice any effects, so you will probably want to IM more than 20mg

^ however if you have a low opioid tolerance, more than 20mg IM could be too much for a first dose.. I would go with 20mg or even 10mg, see how it is, you can always try more next time.

300mg tramadol = 60mg oral morphine according to the conversion chart - not sure what the IM bioavailability is, SC is 60% according to this and IM has a much better blood supply so presume it is significantly higher than this to be on the safe side. Oral bioavailablity is low (30%) - so expect IM to be a lot stronger.

If you are slim you can get away with the same needle people use for IV use but otherwise you may need a longer needle or you'll end up with a subcut shot. The deltoid area works well (outside of top of arm, google a pic if unsure) but the outside of your thigh is good too (this may need a longer needle..)

Don't attempt buttocks on your own or if you haven't been trained, as there is a nerve which could easily be hit by mistake!!
