Morphine compared to hydrocodone?

I've been on hydrocodone for about 2 years now but have lost access to any for a few days, but was given a few 15mg morphine tablets, immediate release. I've only ever had morphine IV, and that was after surgery before I even woke up. So I know I can't be allergic to it or anything, but I'm really anxious about taking any because I don't know the dosage/effect compared to what I normally take and I still need to be able to work and drive. can anybody tell me the general difference just as far as dose and effect?

15 mg of Morphine is not a lot. And assuming you're not going to IV it you should be completely fine driving, working etc. And to be honest after years of hydro use, it might be a lot weaker because you have a general opiate tolerance. The main difference is only that morphine is slightly more potent mg by mg and overall gives more euphoria and general opiate'ish pleasure. After a those years of hydro use, the morphine won't blow you away or be crazy more stronger. It'll be more enjoyable and slightly stronger, but no where near crazy overpowering. Again this all assuming you're taking it orally not IV or any other route. Best of luck don't let it scare you haha

Definitely just taking it orally, I've always been way too anxious to try any other methods. So, I took a quarter of the tablet to start (just to make sure because I'm already and work) and have been super anxious and hot, that definitely has to just be my anxiety then, and not that amount actually effecting me, right?

Definitely your anxiety I don't think morphine can give anxiety any where NEAR that dose haha

Orally, morphine is dosed the same as hydrocodone, it's considered equipotent, although it may hit you harder and be more sedating.

So, 15mgs oral morphine = 15mgs oral hydrocodone.

You should be ok as long as you don't dose too high.

Hi cheesygorga. For me, morphine has always been a very clean, crisp, medical high. IMHO Morphine Sulfate is stronger than both Hydrocodone/APAP, and Oxycodone as well. I no longer do opiates other than Methadone and occasionally heroin. Have fun!

Consult an opioid conversion chart, they're easy to find and far more useful than hearsay from us junkies.

IR Morphine is hard to come by where I'm from, I would almost certainly IV it given the chance. I wouldn't IV just for rush potential, it could be up to 3 times as strong as taking it orally. If you can't or don't want to IV, consider trying the rectal route with pills dissolved in a minimal (5-10ml of water). You will get the advantage of added potency and faster onset.
