I always snort 100-120mgs of morphineIR (Mboxes30mgs) and put 2-4mgs of klonopin under my tongue. So I know opiates and benzos are dangerous I've done it a thousand times. Anyway I just got perscribed imipramine can I still rail my morphine with this combo? I took 50mgs of imipramine last night . Anyway I think it will be safe but I barley know anything about imipramine .

Anyone? I heard it causes serotonin syndrome and that can cause a stroke , answered my own question , but any additional input would help.

I think you're good. I'm not 100% but in rehab I was prescribed desiprimine (imiprimine is the precursor) and I asked if I would die if I went and shot up. He said I would be okay. I know its more of a norepinephene thing, so you should be good. I'm sober for once and haven't tested it though.

Imipramine shouldn't interact negatively with the morphine; in fact it may potentiate it some because of its properties as a SNRI and antihistamine.

It shouldn't interact much with the Klonopin either.

I was on a similar cocktail except with me i was prescribed morphine SR, clonazepam and amitriptyline which is another tricyclic anti-depressant like imipramine. Both act as SNRI's though i think imipramine is mostly a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor where as amitriptyline acts on serotonin and norepinephrine almost equally i believe. Both are strong anti-cholinergics which is what causes the sedation. I also take trimpramine (another tricyclic anti-depressant) for sleep sometimes as well. I had absolutely no problems with this combo and the amitriptyline helped the morphine control the neuropathic pain i have.

Just be careful as tricyclics are anti-cholinergics and mixing anti-cholinergics with opiates can increase respiratory depression. So i would recommend lowering the dose of the morphine you take.
