Harm Reduction Morphine - breaking down a 200mg Slow Release pill

Hi all. First post and apologies if this has been discussed before (can't find it if it has) or if this is the wrong place to post.

I have two 200mg slow release morphine tablets. How would I break this up in to controlled normal-release doses? I need say 20-40mg at a time.

What I've read so far has been warnings not to do it, and I understand the reasoning. You don't know how the pill is structured, you don't know where the morphine is within the pill, so any splitting risks dosing on 200mg in one go. Understood.

But surely if the WHOLE THING was ground to a fine powder and dissolved in a suitable liquid, it could be dosed out accurately. Is there any way to do this? With my limited knowledge I'd be inclined to grind to a fine powder then simple dissolve in water and keep in a bottle. Each time shake it to mix it, and drink a set quantity. e.g. 10ml for 20mg, if I'd mixed the whole lot in to 100ml of water. Obviously water's probably not the best to dissolve it in, so welcome to any other suggestions. To basically create something similar to Oramorph.

What do we think? Surely there's a way of doing it.

Get one of those professional pill crushers: link on bottom line. Then dissolve in high test alcohol, 190proof. Or just the highest alcohol percentage you can find. Doing those things will insure your getting all 200mg of the morphine in the pill.
Or in a pinch put the pills in the oven at broil
And watch til they turn light brown then smash them with a big spoon and put the flattened, baked pill in freezer for a hr. We used to do this for the OPANA ERs and it worked for dumping the dose on those terrible God forsaken time release Opanas.
Best high I ever got were those baked "pancaked" stop sign shaped er Oxymorphone. We'd mix them in hot water and water line the gooey slime it would produce.

In the OP's shoes, I would hope to have "brand name sustained release" tablets. They would be the easiest to break down.

Purdue Pharma (Canada) has brand name 200mg MS Contin sustained release

Napp Pharmaceuticals (UK) has brand name 200mg MST Continus sustained release

Rhodes pharmaceuticals (US) has generic 200mg morphine extended release

Sun Pharma has generic 200mg morphine extended release

Teva (Canada) has generic 200mg morphine extended release

Actavis (US) has generic 200mg morphine extended release

First crush the pill, then place the powder in a metal tablespoon, add about 1mL of clean water, stir it up, and then heat the solution gently until you see the waxy matrix begin to bubble. Once the wax bubbles up take a paperclip and “push” the wax over to one side followed by letting the solution cool. Now you have the morphine dissolved in the water without the wax and it is IR at this point, and I’ve even IV’d this in the past numerous times without any issues, but if you’re gonna go the IV route I would try to clean the solution further using a micron filter if possible.
