$1 million heroin bust in West New York one of biggest ever in Hudson County

A West New York drug bust lead to the discovery of $1 million in heroin and the arrest of five men, as reported by The Jersey Journal.

The early-morning operation, one of the biggest heroin busts ever seen in Hudson County, took place at a two-family house on Washington Street, the Journal reported.

At the house, police seized eight pounds of heroin and $1,200 in cash, and found a "sophisticated" marijuana growing operation on the second floor and a drug packaging facility on the ground floor, town spokesman Paul Swibinski said.

not good

Yeah, def not smart to have a grow operation and then have that much dope laying around. Seeing this shit makes me wanna cry. Imagine how many junkies that could stay well with that and now it'll just go to waste....

Of course they did, it says it right in the fuckin article. "its an example of the police working closely with the community." we all know wat that means.

I aint so sure this is some dope destined for NJ tho. west new york is riiiight there. just a little jump and you in the city. these dudes was all from ny, mighta been the stash house across the river and the distribution in NY, not NJ.

it could also be ny cats sellin in nj, but Im just sayin. the closeness to the city and the fact that they all from NY made me think it might not be a jersey operation in anything other than the location of the stash house. alot of the shit in nj comes in thru newark. Of course some from the city too, but , lot of big time dope in jersey comes outta the newark ports and not from the city ,so for some NY heads to be right there in that area makes me think they had more to do with the city than jerz. The fuck do I know tho , its just my thoughts. definatly could be wrong. would be nice if that was the deal tho, let the NY feens deal with a lil dip in supply instead of the jersey ones.;)

lol 8 bagillion dollars worth of drugs and only a grand in cash? I'd say it was all for personal use, obviously not selling the stuff =p

Reminds me of the guy that got caught with the fentanyl lab back in the 90s cuz he had a few pot plants growing in his window and the neighboor called the cops.

That's dumb, but you have to remember, with an operation like that it's all about greed, they obviously didn't think it through too well.

i know you jokin right? You never keep cash and dope at the same stash house. 2 seperate, different spots for the dope and the money, anybody smart in the game knows that shit.

Exactly! Dope can be stolen, the cops can come running in to arrest people & so on. You never keep the cash at the same location.

Utah man arrested in $8M Rhode Island drug bust

Rhode Island State Police arrested three men earlier this week, including a South Ogden man, in what is believed to be the largest drug bust in state history.

The seizure of drugs and cash — including 66 kilograms of cocaine and $1.2 million in cash — was worth nearly $8 million, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Police arrested Adilson Antonio Reyes, 29, of South Ogden, and two other men from California.

South Ogden police did not immediately know of Reyes’ criminal history in Utah, and a Utah state court database search shows no record for Reyes under that name.

“I am not aware of South Ogden dealings with him,” South Ogden Sgt. Dave Labbe said.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Rhode Island Task Force and other agencies were involved in the investigation and arrests.

In September 2010, a Rhode Island detective working with the DEA Task Force acquired information about the transportation of large shipments of drugs moving from the West Coast to the East Coast.

Investigators discovered Reyes was a registered hotel guest in Rhode Island during June, August and September 2010 and that he owned a 2000 Peterbilt tractor trailer truck registered in Utah. However, Reyes was never seen operating the vehicle, according to police.

Police allegedly found the three men transporting the drugs from the trailer into a warehouse.

The warehouse drew suspicion in that it “did not appear to be used for any legitimate business operation, that the facility was seldom used, and in fact had been occupied only three times since November 2010,” the release said.

call me crazy but arent bricks 20 a key? atleadt thats wat i hear rappers always saying, even 17.5

Most rappers, rather entertainers I should say don't know much or at best have a general sense of the game. It can be from the environment they grew up in or the people they affiliate with in the industry. A few rappers have or know legit connect's because the rap game has a lot of drug proceeds laundered through it. Overall don't listen to rappers most of it is just them trying to be "hard."

This operation was not well thought out lazy so it didn't hold up to scrutiny.

Cops nab $10 million in heroin after tailing suspects in the Bronx

New York — Cops tailing two drug suspects in the Bronx blew open a black-bag operation - $10 million worth of heroin packed into a duffle.

Andy Moscat, 28 and Francisco Ramirez, 41, were nabbed in a bust of one of the largest smack-trafficking rings in the area by the State Police.

"These big seizures are definitely more common now than they were. Even one kilo of heroin would have been a rare find five years ago," Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan said yesterday.

The duo were indicted on the heels of another major takedown in which the feds broke up a heroin mill, in the shadow of Manhattan's Theater District, seizing $6.5 million of the drug

Brennan said drug dealers are moving from cocaine to heroin distribution because it's lighter to transport and more profitable.

A second factor is demand. The rise in abuse of prescription drugs - many of which are opiates - has some seeking out heroin as a cheaper alternative.

In the Bronx case, Ramirez and Moscat were arrested last Saturday after a long-term undercover probe.

Cops watched Moscat climb out of a car driven by Ramirez, go into 2526 Bronx Park East and return with a large bag that he shoved into a second parked vehicle.

Cops moved in and found 40 pounds of heroin packed into bricks in the bag. They seized paraphernalia for a wholesale drug packaging mill and a .9 mm Beretta handgun from an apartment.

They also found $38,000 in cash and diamond-encrusted jewelry in Moscat's Yonkers apartment.

That picture had me like 8o You usually don't see that much dope in one place even if it is a big ass bust. I can't believe these dudes were just carring 40 pounds of d around in a duffel bag like it was their fuckin old gym clothes or somethin it said dude "shoved it in another parked car" God damn shit like that should go down in a garage or somethin.

Another thinig is I wonder what each of those packs weigh, either they were a little over a pound each or some cop is tryin to flip 4 pounds of dope somewhere in the Bronx as we speak.
