firstly, yet again you are worrying about something that will not get you in trouble. You are only getting benzos from one soruce, not several so it wouldn't constitute doctor shopping.

You getting an antipsych from one doctor and benzos from another doctor will not raise any red flags with medicare or whoever oversees this sort of thing.

there is no point in telling the other doctor. you obviously want to keep getting the benzos, if you tell him he might cut you off.

BTW. Are you wanting these primarily to sleep? if your main problem is insomnia, there are alot more effective treatments than benzos in my opinion. I always had good luck with stilnox and imavane. not as addicting, and little potential for abuse. I'm taking restavit atm, because I am going through SSRI withdrawal and having a bit more difficulty sleeping. Its pretty good, and its just an antihistamine. There is a whole thread on insomnia floating around on the first page.

I still recommend you go see a psychologist, and engage in some sort of therapy outside of benzos to treat your anxiety. It is the healthiest way to do it, and much more likely to fix the problem rather than just deal with the symptoms.

stilnox? isnt that ambian a GABA drug? like benzo?
how could it be not as addictive.
yeah zyprexa dont make me feel to good. wouldnt mind gettin ambian but i beleive that would be more addictive

^ I don't have much experience with stilnox (ambien) so might leave this to one to another poster to answer. If you check out the wiki page though it notes the following:

Zolpidem is a prescription medication used for the short-term treatment of insomnia, as well as some brain disorders. It is a short-acting nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic that potentiates gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter, by binding to GABAA receptors at the same location as benzodiazepines.

As far as I know tolerance and dependance are both an issue but I couldn't say whether it's worse or better than a benzo?

I was only made aware of the addictive nature of stilnox recently. However, I used to use it for like 6 months every night to get sleep. I had no withdrawal symptoms when giving up, nor even much difficulty sleeping once the anxiety causing issue (studies) were resolved.

I have read it can be addictive, but it isn't really abusable in the sense you will feel like doing it in the day time like you might want to with a benzo. Tolerance can be problematic if you use it every night and will develop after a few weeks of nightly use. I find that after you develop a tolerance to the point of needing 3 tablets plus to sleep, that is when the weird behaviour like 'sleep talking' and getting up and doing shit you have no recollection of begins.

But for insomnia alone, I find it to be the best choice. It works alot better for insomnia than valium does. Further, it gives minimal hangover effects. Also, doctors have little qualms in prescribing it compared to a benzo.

The Z-drugs are far more selective to where they bind then the benzodiazepines are. It's complex, involving the role other receptors play in GABA potentiating, distribution throughout the brain and spine and the makeup of the specific type of GABAa receptor that the Z-drugs bind to. It boils down to them having less anxiolytic, inhibitory and muscle relaxant properties. This makes their addiction potential somewhat less, but the risk of seizures upon withdrawal is still there.
