grill me or support me, i don't really care, i just thought you guys might find this interesting and i'd like your take on it. it is hard to deal with people like this who stomp into a place with a chip on their shoulder. it's been hard moderating 2000 and would welcome any advice / criticism.

seriously, i have always loved your posts and believe you add balance to a board which usually focuses on the physical aspects of eccy culture rather than the less accessible.
i feel your dissapointment with what has happened to BL2000, and I think it might be best to let it go. i agree with your comments in both threads but the forces of intellect on this board do not hold court like they used to.
as the aussie board gets bigger, i'm sure i'll visit it less as it becomes more fragmented. i hope not, but it's sure to happen

Oh my goodness. They are like children. Trying very hard to stick their necks up or bash each other down. Its like primary school all over again.
I love how they start putting bold in their posts to try and make themselves more important.
Some people have just lost the plot.(see below)
Suggestions? Lock the posts I suppose with a reason. Say that BL isn't here for the individuals to rant without such rants having benifit to all. Its not a forum for personal attacks and that we are all created equal. Some people think they are more equal than others. That is OK, but not here. Lock, lock and lock again until they finally realise this.
Do a few search engine queries on flame wars. Usenet has been around a long time and I'm sure this topic has been visited time and time again

- there may be some suggestions there.

liquidocean, you've tried, but I don't think that they are willing to listen. I totally commend you in your efforts, but it seems like you're bashing your head against a brick wall. To this I say STOP, because that's a valuable head you've got.

If you feel that there's more to be said, say it, but as I said, they don't seem willing to listen.
Bluelight seems to have reached a point where we have to deal with that age old problem - what do you do with people? It's hard, because we're a board that tries to promote facts & open discussion, but when you get people who seem more interested in spouting their own rhetoric then the discussion isn't as open & the facts get muddled up with the opinions (and opinions are passed off as fact).
I agree with Soma - lock, lock & lock until they get the message. I think most people on the board will understand this. A lot of the people over there babbling on about free speech don't even seem to understand the concept, let alone express it correctly.

I don't really bother with anywhere in BL except the Aus/NZ forums, its kinda sad to see such a lack of maturity from SOME, and I do only mean some of our counterparts across the globe. oh well, at least we have our shit together

thanks, peeps, i was beginning to think i lost all my sense of judgement. i didn't post the links to bring people down, but to:
1) get some advice on a flame war of this nature
2) show you Aussies how good you have it and how civilized you behave towards each other
3) how modding the 2000 forum sucks, but somebody has to do it
4) provide entertainment, a look into Septic Logic, and a deeper understanding of the Yankee subconscious

4) and to get some feedback and see if i'm really the censoring nazi these clowns make me out to be
don't think the Oz forum's too big or impersonal or whatnot. as long as you have compassion, understanding, and live like rational human beings, it's all good.

well I personally dont think Liquidocean is a censoring Nazi. My issue is, and perhaps in the above posted statement that has my name on it I went about expressing it the wrong way, having taken drugs for 15 years does not make one deserving of respect from other people, especially when he is advocating that crank and speedballing is safer and better then E. The likelihood is that some idiot American 16 year old will try a Speedball and OD because of a post like that. Someone had also stated that as a "E veteran" the original poster was deserving of respect, which I disagree with. And having served my country in uniform, getting shot at, etc, I hate when that word is misused. But that is my own personal problem.
What Liquidocean has always attempted to do is bring debates back to earth when they denigrate into horrendous shouting matches, to bring some spiritual edge to discussions, and to moderate where he, I, and others feel it needs it most. The 2000 discussion has turned into a pile of Vegimate, stinking up the board. And that is sad. But I for one am thankful that he does his job in the way he does, that he supports people(moi) who are getting shit on unfairly, and doesnt accept that an open board means that anarchy can reign supreme. So bravo Liquidocean. Bravo aussies for having the temperance and strength to rise above banal arguments and name calling. Next round is on me.

ps. Soma, please look at my posting in the thread as a whole before passing judgement on me. I realized that that first post was harsh and unreasonable and could have been expressed in better terms after I posted it, and my subsequent posts took on a more intelligent and rational tone.
