Besides obvious ones like Dave Nada and Dillon Francis who are some of your favorite moombahton producers? I am looking for some new shit to moombah the fuck out to.
 
you might like it! I'd say its a mix between reggaeton and house music? I don't know... definitely reggaeton. I saw Dillon Francis live before and will be seeing him again this Saturday when he opens up for skrillex. It's kind of annoying that Skrillex is even trying to do anything with Moombahton, because there is a good chance he will turn it in a whole nother direction lol. But whatever.

It's kind of different. Being at a show and hearing a moombahton track drop is really awesome, crowd definitely every time i've been at a show and the artist plays it the crowd goes nuts and really feels it.

Dave Nada (nadastrom) invented the genre and Mad Decent records really seems to be trying to push moombahton out there. i can dig it.
 
yeah, that music is not for me. I love house but I can't stand reggaeton. Anything that even remotely resembles reggaeton, will be difficult for me to like, even dancehall.
 
i love me some reggae. this stuff aint bad. i feel like i could get into it. not like that god awful dubstep. ive given that shit so many chances and i really want to like it since a bunch of my friends are into it but it just aint music. some of the more melodic and less noisy tracks arent bad but 95% sucks. im listening to that brazzer song right now and it didnt start very strong but it picked up nicely and i think ill listen to a few more tracks.
for the most part i only listen to psy and goa since the psychedelic aspect is what i really like about it. but i think i could branch out to dis moombah sheeit.
 
yea man fo sho! seeing dillon francis live was a lot of fun. I didn't listen to the music and just went on a whim to see him... good choice though. people were getting down.
 
word. hows the electronic scene in the chi? i spent a week there when i was young and have been looking for a good reason to go back. its a gorgeous city. much more life than my city cleveland lol, but i still love cleveland. chicago is the shit though. the only disappointment was that the original east of chicago pizza co. is just like the ones here... aha. do you know if the sears tower still has a sbarro at the bottom where you get off the tourist elevators? that shit blew my 12 year old mind man!
 
I think it's a passing fad. It's fun to party to on the dance floor for a couple tracks but I don't think I'd care for that same cumbia rhythm for several hours. I definitely don't like pure reggaeton but have dug some MIA, Diplo/Major Lazer, Dillon Francis, and Free Crush on occassion.

The Chi electronic scene is the shit. If you like reggaeton and house music check out Koz on 24th and Kedzie.

I enjoy it, but only in very small doses. It gets boring very, very quickly. I don't see it catching on like Dubstep or Hardstyle. But hey, if it does...I hope it won't get beaten into oblivion like Dubstep has the past year.
 
yea I don't think so either. Skrillex brought dillon francis on his tour this past one in an attempt to gain recognition for the genre (in my opinion). I think the future of moombahton rests in the hands of popular dubstep artists such as skrillex and how much they promote it. I couldn't see myself going to an all moombahton show, but seeing dillon francis for an hour n a half is definitely fun to get down to.
 
I mean, it's cool to see artists trying new things, after all that's how new music is created. I just can't get that in to it though.

Drop some more names from this genre so I can check out other sets.

I'm also noticing a very strong resemblance to techno/hard house in a few of the tracks in both Unter Lieben and Dillon Francis sets, except the tempo sounds like its playing at half the speed it was originally produced.
I've heard both of these tracks before at a higher speed labeled in a techno record.
Listen at 16:10 in Dillon Francis' BBC Minimix and 11:55 in Unter Lieben's set to hear what I'm talking about.
 
Heartbreak does a deeper chill side of things. JWLS does some nice stuff too and Craze is doing Moombahton as well.
There are not a ton of tracks in the genre yet so a lot of people are doing edits from other genres to fill out their sets. It probably also helps acceptability for some to hear familiar things.

I can't get down with it and I'm from the city that spawned it. It's definitely a hybrid of reggaeton and house, and DC has a huge latino population, primarily Salvadoreans so reggaeton is pretty ubiquitous. It's just so odd to see white kids getting down to what is basically reggaeton. We had Toddla T play at one of our co-events last spring and to me, it just sounded like reggaeton. I went back to our other home party and watched Art Department destroy a small warehouse space like the fist of an angry god. Was a good decision.
