Could these be symptoms of insanity?
moods swinging from mild to extreme
faster than one can blink an eye
can you feel the iciness in this room?
unbelievable it was sunny and bright
not more than 3 seconds ago, now it's all gloom

I hate this feeling whenever it comes
melancholy, cynism, apathy
It's not an emotion that's new to me
This is one old friend
Who visits regularly.

I'm definitely not crazy, but not fully sane either
What I'm experiencing though is somewhat common
But most people don't know, its nature's always hidden
Often put down to just a phase
Believe me, this is not the case.

It will come and go throughout my life.
My father too experienced it during his time
You can say it's almost like a curse
I'm thinking it otherwise
It's given me the strength not to cave in

I won't hide behind this and say blame this mental state
I'm just asking you to understand if I sometimes am like this
But I'm sorry if I've ever caused you any grief.

a letter, psychotic rambling, inner torments, talking to yourself leaning against the shower wall - i love it, however you choose to see it.

a heartfelt confession at the end - leaving a personal note to the poem, touching. I think most of us can relate to those sudden mood swings and moments of brief, scared introspection - am i insane? or just not entirely sane? beautifully summed up there. props
