Monster Energy Drink- Experienced- This Drink is a Bitch

^^^Good to have some sense coming back to the thread. This is supposed to be about the experience and the Original Post, not so much a debate about the safety of energy drinks. So lets try to keep it a tad more on topic now that the misinformaion has been cleaned up

Wow this has to be the longest thread for the lamest 'trip' and substance

Why is this not locked?
Mabey I will start a thread...

Hey sure those things are bad, all soda is bad

Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant.

In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.

20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get it’s hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)

40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dialate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.

45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.

>60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.

>60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.

>60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

...But I'm not giving it up either, to be fair, I do only drink the sugarfree kind, but then I like a good dopamine rush and I really don't care what it does to my colon...

the very controversy is one of the reasons i posted this.

also to make a statement or two.

and to actualy relate one of my expereinces with something that is actualy a drug, that i was indeed EXTREMELY suprised (and affected) by when i felt the effects and realized what was going on.

a posible warning at the least

at the most, its a show of how short sweet (but very bitter) simple trip reports get talked about more than the long, deeply thought out, insightful ones people laboured hours over. :P maybe not. oh well. :)

I think it was an allright Idea for a trip Report, Thanks for posting it. But, how much is there to write about with caffeine, kinda hard to spice up, I just thought a few responses were out of context a tad.

I used to work.. and when I went to work I'd drinker a redbull on the way to work to wake me up and 3-4 16oz cans of monster to keep me going 12 hours. I was always very skeptical that caffeiene did much of anything but Ii swear those fuckers kept me wired, without much crash. I think the taurine had something to do with it too. Oh I loved the taste of the Green Monsters and the OG redbull, any of the other are tried were like crap but I loved those.

that sounds like a pretty intense reaction to a can of soda
except one time i tried this drink called Cocaine it was intense

I heard the energy drink called "Cocaine" was taken off the shelfs because it numbs your mouth and mimics the effects of real cocaine. I heard it was only avalable in NYC in some 7-11 stores for a few months and then was avalable on E-bay for a while and is now non-existant

I haven't tried it though, at US$2.69 +S/H for 240ml... I think I'll stick with my usual brand... Insert shameless plug for Rip It!.. 99 cents for a 16 oz can, yo! ;)

i can attest to energy drinks being really bad for you. me and my friends seriously drank like 2-3 a day, and when i didnt drink one i felt like shit, and really tired, then they started taking less effect. pissing all the time and feeling restless sucks. i know that you can achieve the same energy by being active and eating good. i used to be able to drink mt. dew and other caffeinated drinks, but i can't anymore. just makes me feel dirty. i do think its a mixture of all the ginseng and crap as well though, not just the caffeine. either way i'm glad i don't drink them anymore there were a lot of adverse reactions i started having

Just because you abused enrgy drinks and got adversr effects, does not make them horrible for everyone.

You can say that about every drug commonly talked about on Bluelight, but Im sure if you use those energy drinks with more moderation, they could help you get through the day with a tad more energy

i guess it just made me realize that its doing more harm than good. if you exercise good and eat right, you don't need them period.

i didn't always abuse them, and still got bad side effects. you can get mentally and physically addicted to them. I've known a lot of people that were addicted to coffee, and needed it to feel awake.

but of course, theres no denying that this is a part of every drug, and if used responsibly has a lesser chance of happening. i was just offering my input, that they have the potential to adversely effect you.

Many energy drinks make most people feel like absolute crap and I don't know how a lot of them are still being sold. Redline being the best current example.

Anyone else try the Cocaine drink when it was around for the 2 months of its existence? It was absolutely ridiculous. It felt like a fully different drug after you finished a can, and every sip was like a fireball going down your throat. I drank it when I needed to drive a long distance in the early morning, and it blew me away after half a can every time.

edit: lol, I guess they still sell it, but without the word "cocaine" on the bottle, and only over the internet on their website. Weird.

^^ Rumor is that the blank space on their can that reads, "Insert Name Here:" is actually a sticker that peels off, and their old name is still there underneath...
