Monster Energy Drink- Experienced- This Drink is a Bitch

almost toxic

Almost pregnant?

Sources for the rest of your claims, please. Monster is the only energy drink I can stand the taste of, and I drink it because it's something different. I've never had an energy drink (herbal, caffeine, or otherwise) do a damn thing to me. I can drink a pot of coffee, then go to sleep. Part of me wants to believe it's all placebo.

What?

I work midnight shifts, so I'm awake all night. I can drink one of those cans in less than 2 minutes and it does dick all. I drank 3 or 4 in one night and I was still tired as hell. The only effect I can think of was having to use the washroom.

Maybe you bought one that was expired or something?

Energy drinks are way worse for you than taking LSD or shrooms. Seriously, they are almost toxic, in that the by-products of digestion are simply killing your liver.

If you drank two 12oz "energy" drinks a day, you are doing more harm to your liver than drinking a 6 pack of beer a day. To flush a single 120z energy drink chemical residue from your body, you have to drink on the order of 12-15 GALLONS of water!!!

When you see physical/endurance athletes (like motocross racers, runners, etc.) on the podium drinking from an energy drink sponsor....it's WATER in there, real athletes won't touch that crap with a 10 foot pole.

Save yourself some grief, drink water, tea, milk, or something better than a crap for you energy drink.

And to the OP, you are right, it's a bitch, a nasty one, don't drink that
shit.

Those drinks have caffeine and tons of sugar, I dont understand the term "chemical residue". You arent really giving any basis for this assumption, please dont say things as fact , unless youve got some proof.

Just look around, there is tons of info on how negative these energy drinks are for you. It's all marketing hype.

Don't think I am an ass, I am not, I am telling you, these things are nasty. You thought real soft drinks were bad, these make them seem tame. I gave up all soft drinks up except diet coke (when I drink it with rum) 5 years ago. I run 4-5 miles 3-4 times a week even now, I used to run 10 miles 4-5 times a week when I was racing motocross, and I was in *damn* good shape, and still am in pretty good condition for an almost 40 year old.

I don't care for monster, my e-drinks are amp and nos.

Mine are water, orange juice, milk, and some mild tea with lemon!

I drink alcohol only sporadically, and never too heavily anymore, I HATE hangovers.

There are people who have been drinking soda there whole life with no negative effects. High amounts of caffeine are bad, just like any drug, but if used moderately it is safe. The energy drinks have a lot of caffeine, but I just dont buy the fact that they will shorten your life span or anything, unless conusmed to a high degree, then anything can kill you.

the only article you posted worth half a damn is the one with benzene, which is true and not speculation.

The only dangerous drinks were off brands that I dont drink, and probably a small prtion of the population drinks. The energy drinks had safer levels of benzene. But the other articles were just opinion with no science backing, except that if you ingest too much caffeine you have problems. But IM sure soon there will be no reactants that create benzene in sodas. The simple fact is that many many more people drink caffenated soda than smoke tobacco, and they arent dieing early... I just think your comments are very unfounded, and do not reflect anything but your own opinion. No one said you were an ass either, you are encouraged to voice you opinions here, but when they are unfounded, Im going to give mine!

I dont drink them either, they taste like shit...

yeah these drinks can be powerfull
i once had 3 big cans (the double ones) in the morning without much food
i had the shakes and had trouble holding my gun properly... fucked up day

I'd lay off the drinks with heavy caffeine if I was you.

My dad had to stop drinking redbull because one day after drinking one he almost passed out, repeatedly threw up and had chest pains.

I pounded a monster on a small road trip once and they can be pretty intense if you down them.

Opinion:

I agree with everyone who says stay away from energy drinks.

I personally don't need scientific facts and studies to show me that energy drinks and even caffiene itself is bad for people.

Anyone even remotely in touch with their physical selfs and their natural surroundings knows that to some extent who you are and what you are (mind/body), is what you eat and what you observe. That being said everone should strive to put only the best ingredients into their bodies. Energy drinks are clearly not good ingredients, and a tweaked out mindstate cannot be good for you.

Logic:
These drinks have only been around for like 5 years. The first 2-3 years were companies racing to put out new attractive drinks. Honeymoon's over, Now come the aftereffects. We start hearing about heart attacks and addiction and sudden deaths etc. Now we have bluelight articles about it. Soon we will have more aticles and more studies, and eventually energy drinks will be treated similarily to cigarettes (except with tobacco it is harder to argue a plus side, while on energy drinks, at least you are more productive.)

A company who makes a product tests it only enough to make sure they are legally covered to sell said product. They test as mush as current society requests and that is all.

(in our current society we are unsure of caffiene and other energy drinks ingredients, serperate or combined effects, we have a good idea, but no perfect model)

Eventually an independent company (not the one pushing the product) will come along and perform extensive testing to find long term and short term negatives. Which, logically, obviously, there will be at least some. And thats one too many for me.

Some say whats the harm every once in a while? Little to none most likely, same thing with the occasional cigarrete or alcoholic drink, but I personally stay away from cigs and alc to live a more pure life.

well I hope you agree with legsilating chemicals, because, thats what you sound like. And if you stay away from tobbacco, and alchohol to lead a more pure life, than you should stay away from all drugs to actually live this life you speak of. Putting anything in your body from aspirin to cocaine will harm you, at a certain point, people do it everyday anyway. And this is a drug forum, so you must have something to do with drugs. Caffeine and sugar is probably the least of worries for most people who post here, thats all Im really trying to say

If people want to drink red bull, who cares.

Obviously they affect all people differently. I was more replying to the person who was saying energy drinks are "almost toxic," and making a bunch of spurious claims without citing sources.

I just read all your sources, and they're bunk. I'm not sure the first one actually makes any claims except "Energy drinks don't have any health benefits" which is pretty obvious, and "You shouldn't mix energy drinks and booze," which I think most people know by now, and isn't the point of this thread. The second and fifth sources are about Benzene, which is unproven. The FDA recently (2006) did tests and found that most soft drinks contain no more than 5 parts per billion of benzene, which is the level allowed to be in drinking water. So let's rephrase that to: "They don't contain any more benzene than what was in the tap water they made it with." There were drinks that contained excess benzene, and the FDA is working with those companies to reformulate them to be within the drinking water standard.

The third source is about caffeine overdose, and the dangers of college students giving themselves the jitters while studying for midterms. The fourth source talks about the amount of sugars in energy drinks, and specifically mentions that a 16oz can of Monster has about the same amount of sugar as a 12oz can of Coke.

I'm not trying to be an ass either, but doing go posting a bunch of crap about "chemical residue," destroying your liver, and having to drink 10 gallons of flush the toxins or whatever when you don't have a single source that says any of that stuff.
