I resently start drinking Monster energy because for some reason I had no energy and had to work during this period. So the first few days I started drinking this I didnt suffered much insomnia but now it become worst day after day. I already have sleep disorder which as been fixed with Quetiapine (Seroquel) but to night even if I took 75mg, I only sleept for 5 hours and I use to sleep 9-10 hours a night.

So Ive been wondering why is Caffeine or Monster energy formulation making me so insomniac since its not supposed to last for ever. Caffeine have a half-life of 5 hours and I drink those only in the morning before getting to work a some at the break at 9 am.

Ive seen another thread talking about Monster energy formulation and Im suprise to see that my can as quite a different formulation, Im not sure if its because the thread is old and Monster as change the formulation by this time or because I live in another country or something else. But since I dont have any image of my can, I will write it down.

Does the Grape skin extract act like grape fruit juice as an inhibitor of Cytochrome P450 causing certain drug to be stronger and last longer, in this case Caffeine ?

Why do they put Taurine is that stuff, Taurine is an agonist of Glycine receptor and Glycine is an inhinbitory neurotransmitter.

Are there any other things that potentiate each other causing it to last for ever and prevent me from sleeping properly ?

I know the easy awnser is; Stop drinking them ! Yeah I know but I would like to know first what you think and also if there is way to benefit from the energysing effect without insomnia.

Seroquel becomes less sedating as dosage increases. It is atypical. And it's the B12 boost you've accumulated keeping you up. Sweet dreams

Obviously you need the energy, but at what price? Imo my sleep is precious to me and I personaly wouldn't risk it. How about strong coffee or caffeine pills, or gingko or something. Even plenty of natural sugars will give you a boost without a comedown.

I wouldn't touch those energy drinks myself-they make me very strung out.

I

I usually drink red bull if I'm going for an energy, not as much caffeine and less sugar per can since the cans are smaller, also they don't taste like fucking cough syrup

Well for a start theres three drugs in their that cause stimulation/block fatigue caffeine, taurine and guarana. To add to that, 54g of sugar!! And not the healthy, easily broke down fruit sugars either.lol
Do you suffer from anxiety? I do and I know that if I over do the caffeine that the start of the day, it starts a cascading type effect that leaves me with insomnia that night.
I dont think the seroquel dose is enough to cause stimulation. 75mg is still very much on the lower end of quietapines dose range, however you will see less returns the longer you use it, due to tolerance.

lol! Thats exactly what redbull taste like, cough syrup. Personally I love the green monster taste and I hate Redbull and it cost the same price of a Monster for 1/2 of the amount. I use to drink half the can in the morning and the second half at the brake at 9am.

I never really liked the effect of Energy drink or Coffee, but they did help be get to work during difficult days but I continued taking some because I liked seeing the clock go faster but I will never sacrifice my sleep for that. Today, I was sleepy even if I drank one Monster.

I dont believe Armodafinil (Nuvigil) is a good idea, its half-life is 15 hour and anyway how the hell could I get that lol.

Quetiapine doesnt build much tolerance since its mostly an antagonist, your brain doesnt get use to get its receptor blocked, an agonist does because it become over excited and your brain fix that by lower down (receptors or neurotransmitters or whatever... everybody say different thing about tolerance and I cant figure it out).

So anyway I going to quit Caffeine for good since I dont like it, I only like behing focused on work but it get me stressed and I dont like that.

Though I forgot something, nobody answered my questions, meaby you dont know the answers but I dont believe Taurine cause any sort of stimulation its actually a depressant in theory. You may still explain me how Taurine cause stimulation because I dont see any fact that can make me believe that.

Can't help you there, I'd always assumed taurine was a stimulant too.

Maybe some of the more stimulating nootropic drugs could be a good solution? I understand they have no comedown, and obviously they're not loaded with crap like bunge pointed out.I believe some of the nootropics are great for improving cognitive function, if that's something you need. (If I drink too much red bull my thoughts race like crazy.)

I'm looking to replace my caffeine intake with something with less side effects. Oh, here's a thought: coca tea.

Do those nootropics really have any effects ? I have tried Piracetam, Huperzine A and Pregnenolone wihtout much result. Anyway it was more for a speed like effect, like time goes fast and I was focused on what I was doing. Though, I dont really want to use chemicals I buy on internet anymore.

Too bad Coca leaves are scheduled I in my country and I doubt its a good idea lol.

My thought, im going to see my doctor soon and Im going to ask him about Bupropion (Wellbutrin) its probably going to be mild and good for me since Im trying to stop using drugs.

Sounds like a good idea about getting on welbutrin (how cool is that name btw? They must pay somebody to come up with med names lol)
Is welbutrin a prescription item only btw?

As for nootropics the only one I've tried is phenibut (if it can be called a nootropic) and I've had excellent results with it myself. I've heard mixed results on stuff like piracetam. Of course, if you need some serious energy, ephedrine diet pills are the only way to go. I don't like them myself; they're pretty much speed without the euphoria. That's if they're even still legal....

lol, yeah meds name are pretty much bullshit thats why I always use the generic name.

I never tried Phenibut but yeah it is considered as a nootropics, I dont know why though. What was the positive effect of it ?

I tried Ephedrine in the past, it scheduled VI or VII if I recall corectly making them legal to buy but regulated. But even with that scheduled, Ive been able to buy 25 bottle of 50 pills of 50mg inside my country over the internet. It was not fun at all. I felt like I was a zombie and my head was going to explode. The effect were similar to Atomoxetine but a little better.

Whoa yeah, I had a terrible experience on them; I took them while on subutex years ago.

Phenibut is strange; you could compare it to benzos (only it works on gaba b receptors: it can make you very calm, even serene without sedating you. At high doses it can be sedating and the drug is widely prescribed in russia.
It's not really a nootropic, it's just sold by some of those kind of sites. (Its a russian cosmonaut drug, used with piracetam, I believe) It has some dopamine activity; some people get euphoric on it- I used to, especialy when combined with pyrazolam.

Tolerance occurs quickly (I've used 150 grams in 2 months!) And apparently WD's are similar to benzo wd's only less severe. Obviously you're after something stimulating, but if you ever have anxiety it could be worth a look.

I was dissapointed about piracetam; it's expensive and I only like buying stuff I can really feel for sure if you know what I mean...I'm on a similar quest to replace caffeine (makes me jittery, plus headaches, comedowns).

I guess there's white-vein kratom, or even betel nut; there's lots of things out there, for sure.

Kratom is great, it gives me energy and lower my anxiety at the same time but I should not return on opioids at least for now. I took it during a year and near before I stopped using it, my tolerance was very high but I believe because I was taking it like in the morning and in the evening, I was probably always high so I could just not feel it anymore. The withdrawal cold turkey was very mild, some depression, insomnia and diarrhea. But almost no physical symptom, meaby some agitation.

Kratom is the one drug I would take for life, it cheap, the effect are great and it good for health. Definitely my DOC.

I just hope to Christ they don't ban it. You'd think that would be insane, but they banned sodding kava of all things over here! (Pissed about that; I really wanted to try it).

Kratom really is an interesting drug; I believe if I'd heard of it years ago, I wouldn't have needed to start taking suboxone.
I've been buying it in rather large amounts, and stockpiling it to use in an upcoming suboxone detox; I've heard it can alleviate WD's in high enough doses. Unfortunately, my bupe blocks the effects of kratom, so I havn't had the pleasure of trying it yet.

Btw how long can it be stored before it goes bad? (This is a worry to me).

They banned kava in the US ??? tf is wrong with them. Im pretty sure they wont ban it in my country though. The only drug they added to the schedule is years is MDPV and we know why. That chemical brought the attention of all the Medias with all those bath salt crazy stories.

I have stored it in my room for a time of 6 months without it getting bad. After taking red veins for many months, I tried mixing sumatra white vein with some sumatra red veins and I got an AWSOME effect. Those are my 2 favorite strain. Also this Maeng Da I bought from another vendor, that Maeng Da was SO potent, about 6g and I was in heaven.

Kratom probably stay fresh longer in the fridge but I think its good to store at room temperature, its only dry leaves powder after all. I had no problem with mine.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's only banned in the UK, not the US (I believe it's some type of food regulation ban, not a narcotics one). I'm trying to locate some on the net to help with my detox, but you know customs- they're absolute bastards for intercepting foreign packages. I hate customs! (Funnily enough, I managed to get some coca tea through one time, it's shockingly overpriced though.

That's cool you can store kratom for such a long time; I may need to store mine for up to a year, possibly longer. I'm keeping mine in tupperware in a cool drawer right now, but I might get some type of vaccum sealing device, and keep it in the fridge. I was even considering boiling it down somehow, and reducing it to some type of extract or resin, or even a really strong tea, but never got round to it. (Also of I've got like 1.5 kgs of the stuff- it would be too much work).

Yeah, I've heard good things about mixing white and red sumatra; apparently it's what the Thai people in the jungles use. I mostly buy red, as I've heard it's better for painkilling- I have borneo red vein, sumatra red vein, and the other day I got some bali through. I was thinking of getting some green and white and just adding it all together in one big mix, not sure if a good idea though...I've heard good things about maeng da, but was put off by the price.

It's true that kratom is relatively cheap, but the mark-ups are frigging insane! I believe the vendors pay $$$ per kilo. My dream is to hook up with a wholesaler at source and buy the fresh leaf (supposed to be stronger fresh) but that's prob not gonna happen; there are too many scammers out there for one thing.

Im pretty sure kava was banned in the UK due to a couple of idiot importers producing extracts from the leaves (considered toxic to the liver) and somehow getting them into the public health food industry. Created a huge headache for food standards agency and led to ban, shame really.
I think im really gonna have to try kratom , I keep hearing good things about it, is it ok for people with bad anxiety issues?

Shit I wish I got energy from energy drinks, all they do is make my stomach feel like shit.

I'm really not sure...it's a close relative to the coffee plant, after all, and in small doses its a mild stimulant; not a good thing for anxiety.

Also, anecdotal evidence suggests it's addictive, with WD symptoms comparable to a mild opiate detox; also not a good thing for anxiety. Then again, I've heard from a lot of people who say it really helps their anxiety.

Bunge-is the UK ban on kava really strictly enforced? Is it very hard to get hold of here? (I could really use some of this stuff right now - I''m trying to quit phenibut, and I'm facing some severe rebound anxiety.) If not, can you think of any really effective natural and legal anti-anxiety drugs? All I can think of is valerian off the top of my head.

I think you would prob get away with a small import as it was banned more as a food standard issue rather then a drug issue.
There not an awful lot availiable regarding natural GABA agents except valerian.
Baclofen is a GABA B agonist and though prescription only, isnt considered to have abusw potentail so a doctor should be ok prescribing.
What I would do is use benzos to help ease me off the phenibut and then taper from the benzos...however for some people that could be worse then the phenibut.
The problem is that a large number of GABA b agonists/modulators etc are just experimental chemical used in animal studies, so even if you get your hands on an effective one, it could be unsafe for humans.
If I went the benzo route then I would pick a benzo that I dislike but is effective (diazepam for me) so that I dont develop a liking for that instead.
Also get in some magnesium suppliments as they are good for combating muscle tension and good for your heart.
