Wow, look at how many threads we are closing, VS how many actually survive... what's up with that?
First, STOP EMAILING ME ASKING WHY YOUR THREAD WAS CLOSED ... the problem we have are as follows:
1) Violation of some rule (read the rules and figure out which one applies to your thread, but most often we will give a reason for the closing of a thread if it's for a rule violation or something of that nature (ie the OxyContin thread)
2) It's been asked a million times before or there is an FAQ .. look, you wanted to know how to shoot up so you posted, well, had to searched you would have found there is not only a plethora of threads detailing this issue, but even a GUIDE with COLOR PICTURES.... really, you can't go wrong, and we don't need another thread ... again, there will most likely be a reason given, usually something like "UTFSE!"
3) The thread has went horribly off-course, has turned into a TOTAL flame-fest, or something like that... now if possible, we try to rescue GOOD THREADS if they have simply went off course, or turned into cyber-charcoal, but if it is a fucking 3 page thread with 75% of the replies being about some thing other then the intended topic, the thread will simply be killed ... now on RARE INSTANCES we will salvage the topic if it's really unique, or, if a thread has kinda broke into two threads, we will split it, also, we will often merge two like, unique threads together (that's one reason you may see yer thread vanish - it's still there, just merged into a new thread) .. once more, we will usually give the reason..
4) It's just fucking STUPID ... a good example of this is, well, basically a lot of the garbage being posted by greenlighters that know nothing but think they know everything, or, take that "meth for weight loss" thread - I'm sorry, any thread as pointless as that (its been covered many times for one, but my problem lies in that it QUICKLY TURNED INTO AN "A/S/L?" thread.... sorry, that will NEVER happen in this forum ... sure, maybe over "The Lounge" it's cool to make a comment about "oh, yer a girl, how old are you?" ... but NEVER in this forum, god, it's bad enough we have that virus on the internet, um, shit..... AOL, that's it! But to let it infect THIS FORUM? NO! But hell, the examples of threads that are just stupid is really too long to list - the thing is, a LOT OF THESE THREADS are not really "stupid" per se, it's just that when you were trying to get the thoughts from that dusty shoe box that sits on your shoulders to the keyboard, something happened.... you could say your train of thought was HIJACKED and CRASHED INTO your computer ... we would lose a lot less threads if you would READ OVER what you are about to post, and say "does this make sense?" If you so much as have a QUESTION about it POSSIBLY NOT MAKING SENSE then do NOT POST IT because it will just get killed... oh, on these threads, we usually don't give a reason, but rather we will post something showing you how stupid your thread was!
Anyway, I just felt this was kinda due as over the last few months this forum has just turned into a slaughter house for threads (yes, I am bashing vegetarians and saying you should all EAT MEAT!)
If any of the other mods want to throw in their advice or reason why THEY have been killing threads....
Believe it or not, but we are doing this to hold the quality of ACTIVE THREADS in this forum to a higher standard then some of the other ASCII Dumps, 'err, forums on Bluelight ...
And to put an end to it - we are not "targeting" anyone... if you have had multiple threads closed it was because they fell into one of the above... yeah, it's easy to understand that if you post a thread and a mod kills it with a couple keystrokes and a click of the mouse you're pissed, and you might try such things as RE-POSTING the thread, well, this is like a capitol offence in this forum, so yeah, you can bet yer ass that not only will that duplicate thread be killed, but you will be let to know your action was NOT WELCOME in that special Other Drugs way ... well, of course this will piss you off MORE, and it might lead to you posting without thinking, and then even MORE of your threads will be killed .... really, we DO understand, but you gotta realize that we are not plotting against you - shit, with the current state this forum is in do you think we have the time to hunt down yer specific threads? No! But if it just happens to be YOUR NAME as the poster of a ton of threads that fall into one of the above named categories, then it's only natural that moderators will be less likely to cut you slack if you persist and start to post threads about what dicks we are for attacking you... look, it's not meant to be personal, so don't let it be ...
