Mom charged with providing kids as young as 12 with drugs, alcohol

MT. WASHINGTON, Ky. —An area mother is facing criminal charges after police say she hosted a series of wild parties, offering up drugs and alcohol to children as young as 12.

It was several other parents that alerted authorities last month. A police investigation revealed the parties had been going on for two years.

Court documents allege the mother provided drugs and alcohol to minors from January 2013 to March 2015. Jessica Krugman, 34, is now facing 17 unlawful transaction with a minor charges.

Nicole, whose full name is being withheld to protect the identity of her 13-year-old daughter, was the one to call police.

She arrived at Krugman's Highway 44 East home back on March 15. She believed her daughter had been at a girls only sleep over, but when she saw a pair of boys' sneakers by the door she pushed her way inside.

Nicole said she found her daughter in a back bedroom: "There she was my daughter, my friend's daughter, her nephew, another boy, and the child who lived in the home all there in bed together and that’s how we found out."

Dawn, another parent of a 13-year-old girl, was also there that morning.

"I cried, Nicole cried. We were just upset because we didn't think our daughters were doing anything," she remembered.

Dawn and two other parents turned up that morning after it was realized some kids were not where they told their parents they would be.

Later on the kids, students at Eastside Middle, Mount Washington Middle, and even Bullitt East High School, reluctantly began answering their parents' questions. Police said Krugman supplied the kids with alcohol and marijuana. Nicole's daughter said both were used as rewards.

"She would tell my daughter that she would give her weed if she cleaned her house," she said.

Dawn said what her teenage daughter revealed made her furious: "It just makes you mad. What kind of person does something like that?"

And Nicole said Krugman supplied more than drugs and alcohol, according to her daughter.

"Condoms were given, she had taken kids to get birth control pills, she had taken kids to get morning after pills. All that came out and we said that's insane and we called the cops," Nicole said.

insane or sane.. or some of both.. have at it and tell us what you think?

Keep drugs away from children.
She did something immoral by providing 12-year olds with drugs, and by hiding it from their parents.
Taking other people's kids to get birth control pills without asking the parents? Crazy, yes, and very wrong.
I would put her away for a long time, if it were my decision. She should not be out on the streets.

This is the only bit I agree with. If their parents aren't being responsible enough to discuss sex and contraception with them, or the kids feel sufficiently alienated that they can't approach their parents or doctors about it alone, someone has to help them avoid unplanned pregnancy. Giving kids contraception doesn't "make them" have sex - it just stops them ending up with kids of their own.

I'd rather they were getting taken to a doctor by an adult for the pill/the morning after pill/appropriate info about barrier protection than picking up "information" from what passes as schoolyard peer education these days.
