(CBS/AP) PITTSBURGH - A suburban Pittsburgh woman is facing charges after police say her 3-year-old son tested positive for cocaine.

Swissvale police say the boy's foster parents planned to pick him up at Kathryn Forrest's home last week but got no response when they tried to reach her.

Police say they found Forrest naked and unresponsive inside her filthy apartment and removed the preschooler. They say tests later showed the child had cocaine in his system.

Authorities say the boy's stuffed animals were infested with fleas and his body was covered in bug bites.

If your an addict, and can't imagine yourself ever getting off your particular DOC. For fucksake don't have children, it's not fair on you, them or society in general.

Really feel for the poor kid, at least he probably won't remember it when hes older?

Sadly, our government rewards scum for having childrent they don't want and cannot take care of. Until we find a way to stop this, people like this will have kids, and kids will have to grow up in filth so their mommy can collect WIC food stamps TANF and medicaid... and more kid = more $ is all they are thinking...

Living in TX I see illegals do this all the time and it's disgusting :X (I am Mexican-American but I frown upon this kind of thing...)
 
^ having kids for profit isn't really the best means to a decent living. We could just sterilize people like this, but you don't know how terrible of parents they will be until it's too late. If she (and her dirty old bf) found these conditions suitable for themselves, they probably didn't even think about how unsuitable they are for a child. It's disgusting that anyone would want to live like that, hope she never sees her child again. Even addiction doesn't excuse this kind of behaviour, there's something wrong with those people. If the mother had any heart at all she would have left her child in foster care and just shot coke all day with her douche bag bf, why they had to have the child around is the problem. I don't think she'd be getting money for a child that is in foster care? not sure about how the system works over there though.

Nope, it's certainly not. That's why people who are that slimy to have children JUST for welfare (this bitch looks pretty slimy) - They don't give a shit about anybody's welfare including their own, let alone their child.

Agreed. However if you think about it, the only logical reason a mother wouldn't put a child in foster care that she obviously didn't want/care to take care of is that they don't want the welfare to dry up. I bet you money this bitch was on WIC TANF and foodstamps she probably trades for crack/cocaine...

I am not an opponent of these programs, I think we could all use them, however I think it is a very bad thing we make a requirement to have children in order to recieve these benefits. This encourages women to get pregnant for all the wrong reasons, and is most likely responsible for thousands maybe millions of unwanted children being born into homes like this.

Maybe instead of giving welfare to people for having kids, the state should just take them away and people should think twice before having kids they can't afford to take care of.

Sure would stop a lot of this going on. I know there's at least a million other children who have been raised just like this...

not just to get pregnant, but to not have an abortion once they find they are pregnant.
It is better, they are saying, to have a child living in filth, danger, and drugs, among scum, than to abort them.

I am a strong supporter of welfare, food stamps, medicaid, etc.
But only in cases where the person/parent deserves it (actively engaged in looking for a job, etc.).

I agree. I think we should consider not giving welfare to parents who cannot take care of their children. I think the food stamps are better saved for individuals who need them than parents who trade them for crack cocaine... A child substancially adds to the amount, and most programs aren't even available unless they have a child in the first place! I think the only one that is available without children is the Womens Health Program for free birth control and an annual pap smear/checkup. Other than that you have to fend for yourself unless you have a baby...

People who can't afford kids should practice birth control and have an abortion if they become pregnant. It's just wrong to have a baby knowing damn well you can't pay for it. The state should take away kids from parents who live on welfare alone. Not encourage them to have them wtf. It's not like they can't try to get custody later when they get their shit together.
 
Shit, that's gross. The kid might've just touched a pile of blow and licked his hand, the mom probably didn't mean for that to happen but that's still pretty twisted.
 
That kid will probably become an addict cause of this,
how does this happen? Its a stim so u shld be aware of wats goin on,
wat a dummy, atleast it wasn't sumthin crazy like a strong x pill or
couple tabs of lsd, although now I'm thinkn of it, it may be interesting
to c a young one trippn balls lol
