Exactly this, Jakes threads make me sick man. This isn't some 20 something year old, this dude is in his thirties, every thread crying for advice which he never takes, he just wants to be told what he wants to hear. He's never done much to actually CHANGE his life, this is someone who's been alive for nearly 40 years, not some kid, but with the mentality, awareness and foresight of a kid.
Ive never done anything ? how bout the 10 rehabs , completing parole , gettin a associates degree, going to na/aa for years ?
and im 31 not 40
i would love to talk to you face to face then spit in yours

Guys, we've all been stubborn at times, so if you don't feel like giving Jake another round of advice, then just don't post in the thread. Or consider that even if Jake doesn't take the advice, someone else reading the thread might be helped indirectly, so your advice still could be of use. We're all in this together.

Jake, can you get your hands on a few Suboxone strips/pills? If you don't want to go through the hell of cold-turkey, you can rid the physical dependency with a rapid Suboxone taper. This doesn't say anything about a gameplan for when you are clean, which is way more important in the long run. But Suboxone is good for removing a physical dependency as painlessly as possible (in a short amount of time), so if you want to avoid pain I'd think about this. The folks in Other Drugs or Basic Drug Discussion would be able to help you set one up based on what you have.

It's called tough love. A lot of people have seen your posts over the years and it's obvious that telling you what you want to hear has not worked for you, so I think a lot of people are now using a different strategy.

If you can't handle criticism on the internet without getting all defensive, then that's probably what happens to you in real life and what causes you to keep using. This is something that you need to address if you are going to get better. You don't have to prove your worth to any of us, and you should use the positives that you listed as motivation for you to build on them. Spitting in someones face isn't going to help at all, and you need to realized that you can't react like that when things don't go your way otherwise things will continue to get worse for you.

The bottom line is that nothing is going to get better for you as long as you are using. There is not much else that we can do to help you. People have suggested treatment court which I agree with, but will a judge agree to this considering your priors?

Thats cool but then you need to learn how to be a better addict. Not constantly in and out of Rehab and Jail. Its possible. It starts with a job you got that associates degree go find some work with it. That will probably require you to clean up a little bit. That is where the balance aspect of life comes into play. You gotta find a balance. Cant be nodding or too dope sick at work so you gotta find a level of high that leaves you functional. MY point is life has left you behind all these problems you have with drugs are a symptom of a larger problem you have in life. My advice is too mae a decision about the drugs then stop worrying about them and go live your life.

dude what are you bibble babbling about? First of all this man shouldn't HAVE TO DEAL with any "consequences" b/c none of his 'actions' that he explained should be illegal.. No victim = no crime, why can't a man use a drug?! Why does the man that doesn't use a drug have to care so deeply about putting the other man in a cage that decides to use a drug deemed illegal buy the gov't?

Reality is a bitch huh? Sorry, I had to say it. You can talk about how much the drug laws are bullshit and get everyone on here to agree with you, because it's true, they're very flawed. But guess what, they're reality. I'm sorry this post sounds a lot like when I'm hanging out with people and these kids will pull out a pipe and start smoking weed in public and tell me "nah man the laws are bullshit it's only weed". There's no denying the system is flawed, but you're in the system, which means you play the game.

Then you're your worst enemy. If you want to have a better life then hopefully you will see your drug use as counterproductive. As your past has clearly seen...you're not very good at staying out of trouble with drugs. Don't you want to live a good life? What's the value of going in and out of jail over something that isn't very good for your well being. It's not very fair your mom decided to screw you over but these are the things that are going to keep happening with your drug use. Yeah you can try to be functional but I think you'd find yourself happier clean. Life isn't hopeless, not for anyone, because it's never too late.

I know the prisons around where I live will give you medication if you are an addict, usually methadone, not sure if its the same in the US but they should give you something if your withdrawals are intolerable.
