"Darkness cannot be dissipated with more darkness.
Molly, a drug that has become socially acceptable in the music scene, is now hitting the Wiregrass.
It's a drug with an innocent name, but comes with very dangerous effects.

"There are two Molly, one of the forms of molly has M-D-M-A, its methylenedioxymethamphetamine." Dothan Police Sergeant Jason Adkins said.

M-D-M-A is the active ingredient in ecstasy, and is what molly is made of.
This ingredient makes users believe molly is the purest form of ecstasy.

"What they are doing in the molly pills now they’re taking the M-D-MA in powder form and placing it in capsules or just in the powder form." Adkins said.

The drug is gaining popularity among teens and college students.
Many think because the drug is pure M-D-M-A, it’s safe, but officers say that’s not true.

“The federal government banned M-D-M-A, they made it a controlled substance for a reason and one of those is because it has effects on you that are above normal medicines like Tylenol, aspirin so on and so forth.” Adkins said.

The other being? ... MDA?Methylone?various other cathinones?shitty cut pills? the list could go on and on.

I don't get it...
and frankly that statement just makes the Sergeant sound silly.

A lot of pop culture artists are mentioning molly in the music. Rappers say "twisted off of molly though" or something like that a lot.

Yeah, as articles go that one is a pretty poor one... Molly can be anything i say it is, from a sweet girl with plaits to a questionable powder. I hope there aren't police officers down at nurseries confiscating little girls because they "should equal MDMA"...

This is an interesting story:
The musician and actor took MDMA, the pure form of ecstasy, for the upcoming documentary to examine its effects.

Health campaigners said the show ran the risk of being "voyeuristic" and "unrepresentative".

But the 59-year-old actor and musician said the documentary was designed as a "forensic analysis" into the physical and psychological effects of drugs.

Called Drugs Live, the "radical" four-part series aims to examine the claims and counterclaims made about recreational drugs by testing them in a monitored environment.

TV bosses at Channel 4 said the series, to be broadcast in the autumn, would "provide viewers with unmediated access to a live drug trial".

Speaking on ITV 1's This Morning, Allen said it was "insane" to suggest the show glamorised drug use.

"If you think that I'm glamorising the taking of drugs by spending an hour and 20 minutes for two consecutive Mondays in an MRI scanning machine, then you're insane.

"There were policemen taking part. There were definitely soldiers, people who'd never taken it before. It's a very, very forensic analysis, a neurological analysis of the effects of MDMA.
see above link for whole story...what do you guys think?

it's never been clear to me what the value of laughing at and dismissing an article like this is. every article like this is an opportunity to educate.

has anybody ever responded to an article like this? contacted the journalist or the publication and invited them to correct any errors or present some constructive counterpoint? what kind of results did you have?

^I always post in the reader comments when I can and have something to say. Otherwise, if people have said it already, I vote the good ones up and the bad ones down. This article uses Disqus comments which are quite user and reader friendly and used by a number of different publications.

^^I've been waiting for this "Drugs Live" programme but can't see it anywhere in the Channel 4 schedule. Anyone know exactly when it will be broadcast?
