Molly and MDPV - how to tell before dosing

Hello all,

with MDPV starting to go around in my area I was wondering if there is a way to tell the difference between them before taking any. I'm not a fan of the comedown MDPV has and want to be sure I don't end up with it again. However as far as I can tell both are fine white powders with no distinct smell.

Does anyone know of a way to tell without some kind of testing kit?
 
Assuming pure substances (which you can't), and if you have some basic skills, reagents, equipment etc. you can do melting point tests or thin layer chromatography.

The easiest and fastest way is to order an EZ test kit trio (Marquis/Mandelin/Mecke) and use all 3 as a test.
 
Every MDPV I've ever had, has quite a distinct smell. It also doesn't sting like a bitch unlike MDMA. I also can't imagine many dealers trying to pass MDPV off as MDMA. I think 90% of drug users could tell the difference instantly, and frankly, only a retard would risk giving you something where the dose is sooo much lower than MDMA so as to likely bring police/medical attention to you (and therefore the dealer) when things go badly wrong.
 
^ it's not exactly difficult for a dealer to cut the MDPV down which would mitigate the distinctive MDPV smell/taste as well as address the dosing issue.

This isn't really appropriate for BDD so I'll let the ED staff decide what's best for this type of thread but I'm not sure any will have better advice than sekio's.

I have no experience with MDPV, but I can tell you that looking for a smell or a taste is in general a bad way to "test" any chemical. Differences in the production of it can change characteristic smells, colors, and tastes.

Your best bet is to check out RC specific forums for MDPV testing (you'll find them in a basic Google search). I doubt there is an accurate way to determine if it's MDPV without a test reagent, and if you know you don't enjoy MDPV, I would avoid it until you know for sure what you are consuming.
 
MDPV feels ABSOLUTELY nothing liek MDMA, and doesn't smell like MDMA does, its easy to tell the difference imo.
the PV i tried in the form of bath salts had caffeine in it and it burned a little bit but nothing like MDMA
and PV feels 100% WAY FUCKING DIFFERENT than MDMA, you wont fool ANYBODY selling PV as MDMA.
PV feels nothing like amphetamine even, IMO.
 
Pure methylone test a vibrant yellow when marquis is applied.

Im not sure what color MDPV turns off the top of my head but im sure someone will.
