How do all you guys and gals decide to close/edit/moderate these posts? I mean 90% of the time you are right on, the other 10% (some of) you act like greenlighters with magic mod buttons. I was absolutely shocked by one insensitive homophobic reply that came from one of you. It was quickly fixed, (thank you) but as representatives of a really valuable and interesting community, do you not feel the obligation to maintain some level consistency and compassion? It seems like some strange high school click thing going on.
Oh well, I guess I am the one clicking the link, but good moderatorship could really make this place shine. I have floated around these parts in one form or another for about 2 years now, a good dose of compassion and intelligent decision making would be sweet. It just seems like ( stupid coming from me I know) some of your egos are getting in the way of what your purpose is.
To all of you hard working mods/admins that kick ass thank you! For all those that became mods because they got the fancy decoder ring from their buddy on the in side…..barf…. that is not what I think this should be about…… but shit… I don’t’ even care about what I think about most of the time…. so whatever….
My rant of the day…… not that it will stay open long enough to be read.

HEHE agreed
i once started a thread, the moderator just stopped/blocked it giving a crappy reason and didnt even move it to another board i was so fukin pissed off!!!!
unhelpful gits!
but dont get me wrong the majority of the time u do a good job and give gr8 advice

There is only one mod that I think should definitly NOT be a mod. I'm not going to name names though....

If you have a problem with a mod, email the mod.
The mods on this board seem to be right on most of the time. We could do a hell of a lot worse. The rules that have been established seem to keep most of the shitty posts from cluttering the place up.

I have created a program that will help automate giving a detailed response as to why something was edited or closed - in the mean time, take it up with the moderator via e-mail, or if you have some time to kill, make a post in the comments for admin forum - it wont help but we all like to read them...

"I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I don't care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is: 'What are they in a position to do about it?'" (William S. Burroughs)

people make mistakes. moderators are people. therefore, by the process of deduction, moderators make mistakes! (i realize that came off a little sarcastic)
you have to realize how frustrating it can be sometimes to have the same thing happen over and over, and all because someone is too damn lazy to read the rules before they go a head and post the latest and greates source of *insert drug here* they just found. and sometimes people can let their emotions get involved in things like closing posts. we don't do it intentionally. every mod has closed a post they probably shouldn't have...so don't get offended if it happens to you. just email the mod and ask why (politely!). we are rational people, if we made a mistake, we fix it.

Is this a problem you have with a mod of the board in general, or specifically an Otherdrugs mod? If it is one of us 4 than I suggest you email us. I am emailed often about the decisions i make here and am very open to hearing the other side of the story, as many have already found. If there is a reason why the post should have been left open, and it is a deserving one, I have and will re-open it.
Both Otherdrugs and Psychedelics are very labor intensive forums to moderate - possibly the most difficult. Not only do we have to be extremely knowledgeable in a number of different areas, but we have to deal with A LOT of potentially dangerous subject matter (Needles, dosages of potentially toxic substances) and posts that could concievably put the entire board in jeopardy (Sources of illegal drugs). Please keep these things in mind when you see us closing up posts. Contrary to what some of you might think, we are NOT Nazis. We(I) actually take moderating the OD and Psyche forums very seriously, and see them as an important responsibility and vital to this entire board.
If you are posting idiotic topics, perpetuating garbage, or spouting flames - don't be suprised when your post is edited, closed or deleted. If you are revealing or alluding to sources, the same will happen and in addition you just might be banned. This is just the way it has to be. This has has nothing to do with mods being on powertrips, but rather mods doing what they need to do to preserve the integrity of a forum(s) and board that they are deeply dedicated to.
Again, if you have any issues with us that you feel haven't been addressed sufficiently, email us. We love this place and want it to be the best it can be.
Sincerely,
SG

Nothing in this world can prepare one for the impressions that fill your mind when you enter the DMT sensorium."
