Modern Work

I spent years watching
People move about like bees,
Generating income, however possible,
Modern "work" -
Pressing buttons and
Smooth-talking people.

I found it sickening.

When I was younger
I sat and let
The universe
Come to me

But now that I have
No money, I realise that
I, too, must become
A modern worker.

So I sit at my table...
It's a wonderful landscape -
The paper a grain field,
The pen a sickle.
