Moderate opiate user needing starting methedone dose advice

been using opiates 5 years or so now off and on sometimes more frequently than others.but recently (past month) have only been taking tramadol.managed to get ahold of 5 10mg methadone tabs. How to go about starting use? experiences only ranges:vics,oxycodone,morphine tabs and liquid and suboxone

Are you talking about recreational use vs coming off another opioid? A lot of people don't find methadone recreational; it comes on slowly (3hrs+ to peak) and lasts a long time but often just feels sedating and heavy. Take a look at the opioid conversion chart in the links at the top of the BDD homepage to get a rough idea of dose, but be cautious - it can be difficult to covert to a methadone dose and easy to overdo it. Definitely don't redose for at least 3 hours - I would not redose at all that day - and stay away from benzos/alcohol. Bear in mind some may still be in your system the next day too.

Realistically, I'd do it like this. ONLY ONCE PER 24 hours.

20mg.

Some people would laugh at these doses; nothing but a sugar pill. But with no tolerance, this is the way to go to get a buzz and be safe. AND don't eat all 5.. You'll be tempted but with little tolerance you can stretch out your dose.

That's kinda tough to say,but I guess it would be concidered somewhat recreational but at the same time I've been hooked on a variety of opiate pills for some time now. I can agree with the sedate/heavy feelings you speak of.I took 1 about 5 hours ago and got a slight buzz.but tomorrow I plan on uping the dosage by 5 or 10 mg.is this took swift of a dose increase? My usual habits are 20mg of oxy or 30mg hydro at a time,but I've taken much more at times.with a slightly higher dose is a euphoric nod achievable?

I'm used to 5-8 tramadol at a time maybe 4-6 days a week,depending on supply.yes I've already been thru withdraws and was unfortunate enough to have to experience that over a 2 week stay in the county jail.even tho I'm prescribed tramadal they refused to administer my doses...pricks

try 5mg/day. note methadone takes 2-5 hours to peak, don't take more thinking it's not working. it will last 10-20 hours. if that doesn't keep you regular, try 10mg/day, you probably won't have to go above that.

Thanks for the advice man,duely noted.I had a testrun today, but I plan on gettin up early tomorrow and preparing my body for a higher dose and daylong nod.any certain food or drinks I should stear clear of before taking my dose?

Not really - dosing on a full stomach won't hit you as hard, but as methadone isn't really a hard hitting drug anyway it shouldn't make much difference.

Stay away from alcohol though!
