Misc MODAFINILl in the morning and MELATONIN at night? Advice from any1 who has experience

Ever since I stopped doing Heroin 2 years ago I have been having a very hard time focussing on anything and maintaining motivation. I am generally miserable as I don't see anything through and feel no sense of achievement in much.
I start lots of things and don't see them through. I am intelligent and generally well motivated but not now. I am putting on weight and can't be bothered going to the gym at all any more and just eat and drink and smoke. This goes against the way I like to live and feel people ought to live and my apathy is preventing me doing anything about it despite a growing self directed resentment.

After some extensive reading and research I am going to try Modafinil in the morning when I wake up every second day and Melatonin in the evening nightly.

I was wondering if anyone out there has tried something similar and can relate their experiences or advice?

Firstly choosing to get on a drug or drugs regularly is a bad idea, but you know this. But why are you choosing to take 2?
I am assuming it is because you think that you won't be able to sleep after the modafinil, but this should not be the case if you dose when waking.

You should Really try to loose the weight and not eat crap and smoke without drugs, everything you have mentioned sound's like depression.
Before turning to modafinial as a cure push yourself to sort yourself out otherwise. Set up a plan for your weeks, spend more time with friends and, most importantly, eat well and work out daily.

What are the reasons you have chosen Modafinil and Melatonin?
 
I do this (except modafinil daily, melatonin 2-3 times a week). It takes a lot of melatonin to really help, so it's not much of a solution. But modafinil isn't that hard to sleep on. It makes you feel awake, but if you try, it gets easier over time because even though you feel wide awake you can sleep pretty well (caffeine is more disturbing of sleep for me). I have a long history of insomnia, but modafinil helps with my depression generally.

I recommend trying things other than modafinil first. I had therapy, antidepressants and starting exercising daily before I just gave up (I still do all that, minus the antidepressants) and took modafinil daily.

I currently take 50mg-100mg a day.
 
The combination isn't harmful, you should be fine. However, modafinil is a weird drug, it feels stronger than a cup of coffee without negative effects. I'm not a hig fan, I get more out of bupropion
 
Fuck yah time to smoke weed just got put of class, then I have o chem lab where we learn how to take salicylic acid and convert into asprin much like how morphine is converted to heroin . So essentially I'm learning how to make heroin from morphine

I did this same thing about two years ago in college, my thoughts about it were identical to yours. I find it really funny and I wonder what people that haven't ever experienced drugs think of that assignment.

I have been reading about Modafinil for about 3 days now and I have done some research on Melatonin. I have done a lot of exercise in the past and go in and out of eating well. The problem is that I am incapable of maintaining a style of living. I get shit done for small amounts of time and then fall into the kind of hole I'm in now for longer and longer periods of time. And in these holes of non productivity H starts to seem like a more and more desirable route, as I feel like I am wasting away and rotting anyway. Might as well be feeling great while I do that right?

I know what I need and want to do. But I just can't be bothered any more. I've chosen Modafinil for it's various properties and low abuse potential and Melatonin for the fact that it is great for setting up a stable circadian rhythm. I am sensitive to stimulants and though I have read that it is not difficult to sleep on after a morning dose, I would still rather hedge my bets and just set up my body clock with Melatonin at a set time every night - about an hour or so after the half-life of the Modafinil.

I just feel like the Modafinil will give me the focus and concentration to do the things I know I enjoy and are good for me (exercise, reading, study, seeing people, music practice & other productive hobbies). I have read many reports and really think it's worth a shot.

Thank you. This kind of reply is very helpful to me. I have tried exercise and good eating but I just can't maintain. And I fucking hate the antidepressants.
