Modafinil -- thoughts and experiences

Interesting to hear that yours were unlikely to be caffeine. Though I suppose if you're making counterfeits it's probably not a big stretch to think that you might change the contents from time to time. If you did do the analysis I'm sure it'd be very valuable for lots of people on the internet - I've seen complaints about the indian generics for years but never any lab analysis for obvious reasons. I'm far from a chemist, but isn't doing that analysis quite involved? Anything pressed like that will at least be mixed with binders so unless you're looking at something totally inert you'll get a minimum of two spikes right? Can you even get a pure reference sample of modafinil or would the nature of its patent status make that difficult? Please make sure to report in if you do any investigations, I'd love to hear the results even if it stopped short of MS.

Couple of other notes; good synergy with caffeine and definitely has appetite suppressing properties. Taken regularly, you tend to find that you simply require less sleep each night and still wake up feeling refreshed, combine it with too much caffeine though and you get some bad anxiety during the "peak". For me anyway...

If these were counterfits, then the actual Indian pharmacetical companies are making counterfits. I was able to confirm both with the manufacturers that my Modalert and Modvigil were both legitimate. I suspect that their manufacturing standards are somewhat lower than what we are used to here.

Doing the analysis might be difficult, it really just depends on what fillers and binders there are. I'm going to try and get a list of them from the manufacturer, but who knows if that will work.

Modafinil has plenty of distinct functional groups though, which should make it easier to see if any actual modafinil is there because I will know a set of distinct readings to look for. It will be hard to tell what else is there since I don't know what I'm looking for there.

Yeah I've used 'Modalert' 200mg tablets which is an Indian make and they seem good. The company that makes them checks out ok and they packaging is high quality. 'Modavigil' is FAR more expesnive so it's not worth it IMO.

I have some modapro, which is an indian generic of modafinil.
I wanted modapro because modalert get many bad feedback.
I never see a modapro or cephalon modafinil bad feedback.

And i like it. When tolerance is not here, i get some euphoria.
amph duration is too long, which prevent me to sleep. There is no such problem on modafinil.

I've tried a couple of the generic brands, Modalert and Alertec, really only for focussing when at work after little sleep.

I usually do a 100mg dose around 10am.

The Modalert was kind of weird. When I first started it would zap me and make me completely on the ball for about 5 hours. Now, after doing it on and off (maybe once a week for 4 months), I get a kick for about 2 or 3 hours, then a tail off for an hour where I feel awful, then plateuing back up to feeling on the ball for about another 7 hours. The other weird thing is that I'll feel hungry all day long on Modalert, whereas I thought a side effect was lack of appetite?

Alertec was different again. That was way too much of a push for the first hour or so and I just felt really stressed. Then it just wore off and I didn't feel as good as the plateau on Modalert. Maybe this one was a counterfeit and just caffeine though?

On both, if I took it about 10am, I'd usually not sleep until midnight (usually go to bed at 10:30pm on a school night).

dexedrine and provigil

I've been on dex spansules for awhile now and they do help and are rather smooth. However when I take a provigil halfway through the day I feel on top of the world! Not high just in control. Maybe there's some synergy there.

A word of warning for others who just can't stop once they start

I am at the end of my third year of university in the UK and have a lot of work to do so I started using generic modafinil (modalert)
I obtained.

I have had issues with stimulants in the past (ecstasy, amphetamines, cocaine etc) but have been clean for years. I also have depression and anxiety for which I take 40mg citalopram daily

I was using 200mg a day or so for about six days out of seven and it was massively increasing my concentration levels and a little anxiety was a small price to pay.

I began to build up a resistance to it so I started increasing the dose to compensate.

One day I felt the stirrings of a feeling of 'highness' (like a watered down version of ecstasy) so I took more to try and increase the feeling which, to a certain extent worked.
I then kept taking it to further increase the feeling but after a point It wasjust keeping me on an even keel .

So I continued to take more because I liked the feeling I guess and by this time my cognitive functions were beyond rational thought and it was all I cared about.

This went on just sat in front of my computer trying to work for about 36 hours until my eyes absolutely couldn't focus anymore and I tried to sleep. This was not happening so I decided to take some mirtazapine in an effort to 'knock myself out'. I took way in excess of the stated dosage in an effort to counteract the wakefulness effects of modafinil. Somewhere in the region of 300mg. I did get to sleep but it lasted for around 48 hours and upon waking I was utterly dazed and confused and really worried about the damage I might
have done to my mental health. I had massive anxiety and trouble doing anything.

After counting up the remaining modafinil I discovered to my horror I had taken 4500mg over the duration of 36 hours. My mental capacity did come back within a few days and I don't think there is any lasting damage but it was a scary time.

So my advice is set a dosage and if you are becoming resistant don't increase it if you are overly susceptible to the 'moreish' nature of many drugs.

Modafinil doesn't get you high but it can fool you into thinking it can and you will take more and more trying to reach a high that will never come.
