Modafinil / Provigil - Neurotoxicity and Tolerance reduction?

Hey everyone!

Actually a thread like this would probably belong in the advcanced drug-discussion category. But since I myself am nowhere near an expert regarding these topics, I thought I'd start it here. Maybe once there's enough profound information in this, it can be moved over there.

So, as many of you know, there's a very interesting thread in the advanced drug-discusion regarding (possible) Amphetamine- Neurotoxicity and Tolerance reduction.

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/...xicity-and-Tolerance-Reduction-Prevention-III

(also see part I and II)

Now my question is:

Would specific measures like these be suggested when taking modafinil/provigil, as well? As I said, I'm not a chemistry-buff - and while I do understand that it works quite differently than Amphetamines, very little is known as to how it does actually work, right?
It is believed though, that it increases glutamate release and diminishes GABA release.

So is it even a justified concern that Moda might Cause desensitization/downregulation of receptors and hence Neurotoxicity, like Amphetamines (probably) do?
And would there be a way to avoid tolerance, like supposedly the case with amphetamines?
Or am I reading too much into this?

I would really like to hear what some of you guys think about this, so let's get to it! :)
