I recently acquired 10 Modalert pills, with the hope of finally finding something to help me get my work done. I've always had issues with concentration and focus, so revising for my exams, getting coursework done And working long shifts sometimes becomes A real struggle. I was advised to try modalert to help me study and take in the information I was studying(another issue I have, seems to be getting the info into my brain, I read it text book material over and over and it just doesn't stick.)
Anyway, first day I took half a pill around 9am and the other half around midday. I spent this day working in the morning and then studying for exams in the afternoon. I really felt very little, if anything there was a slight feeling as though I'd just had a cup of coffee, but not even as strong as that. I finished studying around 9PM. For the last 45 minutes of that time i felt a bit jittery and could hear my heart racing slightly. However studying had been the same old struggle all day, the modafinil made no difference. I fell asleep around 1:15am. The next day I had a whole day of coursework to do, so I took 100mg around 8:30 and got started with my coursework. I sat at my desk trying to get it done until 1:30, no effects noticed other than slight jaw clenching. So I took no more that day and failed to complete the work I needed to do.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm pretty certain the modalert is legit as I paid over the odds to get it from a very reputable vendor. The packaging is also exactly how it should be. Why isn't it working? I also take aniracetam currently, could this be effecting the results?

it's not a strong dopamine drug so it won't massively help focus. it's basically strong ass caffeine to keep you awake and alert but won't hyper focus you like amphetamines or DRIs. i could be wrong but i don't think they even prescribe it for ADD.

I dont think modafinil is the best for increasing focus. it sounds like what you're describing is adhd type symptoms, so I think adderall or methylphenidate would be a better choice. from what I've heard modafinil is better for just staying awake, not focusing.

I guess it depends on person to person, for me modafinil with nicotine chewing gums worked wonders. I was like a machine with no pain whatsoever. Although the dosage I had was way above the safe threshold.

I find 100mg of Modalert to provide an 'in the zone'-like feeling reminiscent of a low (~10mg) dose of amphetamine. However, as an above poster mentioned, I feel less of an effect the more rested I am. What I mostly feel is 'wakefulness', though I do experience a slight euphoria, i.e. I am 'happy to be doing whatever work I am doing at that moment'. As it stands now, I mostly just use 50mg on mornings when I didn't get enough sleep, and that doesn't really feel like anything (besides not being so tired).

You sound like you have AD(H)D.

Modafinil is not generally recommended for ADHD because it doesn't really work that well. I similarly found no relief of ADHD symptoms from it. And that is why they don't script it for ADHD - we all know they'd love to (it's got less "abuse potential" than the stuff they do script). It seems to be much more effective at blocking tiredness than improving focus (hence why it's scripted for narcoleptics and shift workers).

Have you been checked for ADHD? You might be able to get some real ADHD meds...
