Modafinil/Adrafinil

Anyone have any personal experience with either of these?
Modafinil has been called the "ulitimate stimulant" by the pharmaceutical world because it increases alertness without any rebound effects, works on an entirely different family of neurotransmitters (orexins), and has no reported tolerance or addiction issues to date.
I know it hasn't been available in the US for long, but maybe somebody picked some up online.

I have a bottle of Modafinil. I think it is worthless.

for recreation? I'm not really concerned about its recreational potential at this point, more wondering about its abilities to increase alertness when underslept.

I've tried adr. I thought it was pathetically weak. Not surprising it has few side effects, it has few real effects either.
Dexdrine and ritalin are probally superior, otherwise it's just a cup of coffee without the sideeffects.

I meant "worthless" in every respect, recreational and otherwise.
It's certainly not a substitute for sleep, either.
