Mobile phones: What do you have? What do you waaaant?

As for phones... well I already said I wouldnt buy anything thats out atm, but Im very anal about my phones and cause I work with them I getto see what they are really like.
However, if I was in your position, my top choices would be in slight order..

SE (sony ericsson) k770 & w910
Moto V8/9
Nok 6500 Classic (NOT slide)
SE W580 (if you can find one)
Nok N82
Blackberry 8310

Phones I would NOT suggest

Nok N95!! (highest percentage for repair of a phone in our companies history)
LG prada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nok 6500 Slide
any o2
Sam U700
Nok E65/6288/6280

Now dont get me wrong, the phones ive listed in both posts, you may or may not agree with me weather they are bad or great, this is just going from my personal experience with useability, features and repair quantities.

Ooh thanks for that Aishas Star, good to know!

I have two shitty pieces of shitty shit, one is the motorolla razer thing that isn't actually the thin one, the other is... whatever. I suspect both their batteries are borked, I need to get around to getting a new battery. I kind of like being uncontactable, but it does tend to result in people just turning up unannounced sometimes.

Also what's the deal with the LG prada, Aishas Star?

Its a piece of crap. To put it blunt.

The Prada logo on the front rubs off, the touchpad is finger only (that sounds so dirty!), if your on a voicemail call the touchpad wont pick up numbers your pressing eg "perss 3 to delete message" press 3.... press it again... PRESS IT AGAIN!!! So basically you cant delete voicemails, or navigate through the voicemail menu. You also cant save a number while your on a call. I think we've sold maybe 10, almost EVERYONE had come back with complaints. I refuse to stock it anymore.

piece. of. crap.

Aishas Star,

Just out of interest, have you heard or seen much in regards to the Sony Xperia? Like I said in my original post I really like the look of this phone but I don't want to end up with a dud. If you have any... insider info about this phone I'd be really interested :)

Sorry mate, havent heard anything yet, I think it might still be a few months away. Just by looking at the specs though, its pretty heavy and largish and I wouldnt expect the battery to be a long laster, you might find you only get a few days out of it.
But as a general rule Sony Ericsson are a top brand in my books :)

word. the jesusphone

I use some basic nokia after losing my favourite phone ever, some samsung black flip phone i bought off ebay a couple of years ago.

I really liked the design and it was really small and always seemed to look classic (to me). I hate all the fucking ugly slide phones that are out now, they all seem to look really cheap. I generally hate the design of nokias, they're so generic.

Iphone is hot but given I have an ipod, it doesn't really appeal.

Why can't someone just make a nice black flip phone again? :( When I asked at the shop the sales assistant was like "flip phones are out, slides are in". Your face will be the only thing that's in lady, when I punch it. :X Breathe.

Um yeah, so otherwise I want a blackberry. If I can't have something I actually like the design of, I may as well get something functional and ugly. :(

Plus then I can pretend I get paid a lot more than I do.

I can't think of anything worse than constantly having access to email from a Blackberry.

Well, I can - my boss knowing I constantly have access to email :\

I've a Sony Ericsson w700i, which I love dearly, even though it now has a poltergeist living in it that turns the camera on and off at random points in the day, despite the camera cover being fully shut.

I had a couple of Nokias as my first phones but it'll be pretty hard to tear me away from Sony Ericsson now - they look good, have sound + camera I'm very happy with, and have a much more intuitive menu than a Nokia.

^One of my best friends just got himself a blackberry through his work. Most annoying fucking thing I've ever had the displeasure of watching anyone use. If you think about how many emails you receive in your work email inbox, and then you translate that into annoying constant little buzzes and beeps.
Yes I realise there is such a thing as a silent function, but this phone silences everything or nothing - so it's no call / no text or email alerts or all of them in all of their buzzy tonal glory. :|

Plus it doesn't help that he has to check every single fucking email he receives just in case it's something interesting or important. Hell, I would check every single one straight away too if I had them announced like that. I'd be itching to open it up and have a look.

At the end of the day blackberries should be used during work hours and work hours only. I'll never ever get one - mark my words.

Everyone at our work has it set to ring for phone calls and silent for messages emails.

I'm fairly sure this would have been an issue they would be aware of when designing tone options.

The very POINT of blackberries is for people who are either away from the office most of the day, or who are at a senior level where on many occasions it is imperative that they can be reached/forwarded information out of work hours/when on holidays.

Yes it sucks and it's a sad indictment on the lack of buzzword of the year 'work/life balance' in most executive's lives - but given the option, none of my colleagues who have them would give them up.

Morse Phones ...SMS---

I had one the size of
a house
in 1997.

I now don' have one.

It's awesome.

People don' know where I am
when I'm annot around dem -
(which is the only time I wanna be contact'd)
- an' when I'm wif peep's,
the message comes across.

It's occasionally inconveen~
but,
it beats the hell outta gettin'
calls
all the time
jus'
to make sure I'm alive/doin' the right thin'/not doin' the right thang...

But I'm thinkin' of buyin' a
'Site Phone'
offa Ebay,
or a
cheap builder.

If I want another one,
Ima buy something at least weighin'
kilos.

Spoken.
Werd.
Peace.

This was my last phone I had but in black..I thought it was a REALLY good phone! I thought it had a good cam on it.

lol... I hope Aishas Star realises that a percentage of any mobile sales she makes through BL have to be sent back to the site. ;)

I must be a patient person because I have a slow N73 but it doesn't bother me too much. I actually use 3G browing (Opera Mini browser) more often than I make calls (NERD ALERT), I install random Symbian software and themes off the net too. :o

it's a shame it's really quite shit. i've got it jailbroken , but there's not much out that for me that makes the iphone the killer phone for me. maybe when the firmware 2.0 comes out and I can use push email properly, but till then, it doesn't live up to the hype for me.
