MMA’s network debut mocks true sport

I'll concede this much. MMA in and of itself is an incredible test of skill, endurance, and technique. The crowd that goes with it ruins it completely though. Its a worse crowd than NASCAR.
 
Well most of the Nascar crowd is simultaneously debasing the MMA crowd with their inbred selves. Sorry but I had to make the comparison. As terrible a mental image as one gets from salivating Nascar aficionados.. that's the level of debauchery I see whenever I conjure an image of an MMA match.
 
That's because UFC is taking over lol. UFC's Ultimate Fighter is just a bunch of hicks and losers knocking eachother around.

But look at the previous PRIDE FC fighters.

Wanderlei Silver, Rampage Jackson, Fedor, Cro Crop, etc. These guys are monsters and the fights are so much classier. I really hate how the UFC is run.
 
Damn yo, i didnt think it was that bad, mabey a little over the top, yes......but well all know that Showtime Elite XC is just UFC and Pride washups........anybody wanting to see sum true ass fighting watch WEC wreckage on VS. Anyone heard of Faber?????? Knocked the shit outta Jens Pulver..................anyway MMA has a long way to go before its commercially accepted, and Show Elite XC has always been number 4 or 5 on my list of the leagues.....i wish they would stop fing around and unify all the leagues and have 1 true champ at each weight division..... I will give show elite xc some credit, they STAND UP THE FIGHTERS RIGHT AWAY with no action.....
 
U. Faber could bulk up and join the UFC but he'd get his ass handed to him. He's a big fish in a cup of water. I do agree on having the leagues join up. I'd love it if they all fought under Pride rules...

Yeah, he didn't help my defense of the caliber of character that watches MMA. He still kind of knows his shit though...
 
oh, i totally think it's a sport, just not my thing. i was only goofing a bit.

i will say the people i know who are into it aren't into it because it's a sport, they are into it because they like watching people get beat up.

were you trying to say that your trying to find out what type of people are watching mma? Ill tell you the truth MMA fans, at least in my area, are blue collar working class people that just want to have a beer and watch a good fight on saturday night. Most of us are ex boxing fans, and are just generally disgusted in the shape of that sport. MMA will take over boxing in ratings and revenue in the future no doubt, MMA is a sport in its early stages needing room to grow. As far as the nascar disses , i agree that there is a stereotypical fanbase there, but if you knew the science and engineering tasks that are required to adhere to those strict rules, then mabey nascar isnt just for "backwood rednecks". I will not say that i am a NASCAR fan, but loiving in Florida (very close to daytona)i have it shoved in my face year after year, and its growing on me. Back to MMA, I enjoy showtime elite xc, and it usually isnt so over the top when itd on showtime. I think they were trying to do it up extra and i admit it looked very tacky. As far as kimbo slice, the minute he steps into the octagon with any real opponent (vanderlei silva, chuck liddel, fedor, randy couture) he will be tasting the agony of defeat. Hell i think good ole herky jerky Keith Jardine would woop KIMBO. Interesting matchup though Houston Alexander vs Kimbo Slice anyone??????
