Mixmag - "Methoxetamine = roflcoptr" - *MUST READ*

I think MXE is fairly benign. It induced a panic attack, which was quickly sorted with diazepam, when I had quite a lot of it. If it's similar to ketamine, then it would be rather hard to OD. Although, for me, it was nothing like ketamine.

Even so, this stuff shouldn't be flogged like meph, even though I believe meph is far more harmful.

Haven't written on bl before because, frankly, the info I've been getting from here for the past few years has been so good, I haven't had much to add. But hi and thanks for all your work. Really annoyed about this scandal. I think it probably is a good idea to get a decent story about methoxetamine into the media, and tell of the vendor-mixmag links, before a Sun article starts screaming about this. You've tried the Guardian, but if they're not keen, might be an idea to tell Private Eye. They're basically the perfect place for publishing corruption/dodgy-dealings stories, and especially where corruption/false reporting is within the media industry.

Taken by itself, I'd have to agree. I've taken pretty hefty doses and its never presented any serious problems, though I know everyone reacts differently to drugs. You have to be really careful mixing it with certain drugs though as it can be a lot more unpredictable than ket. I think thats where the main danger lies. Ket for instance goes fucking amazingly well with MDXX type drugs, but the few times I tried mixing MXE with MDMA it wasn't nice at all. Puts me in this really wide eyed, cold, tweaky state and kills the all the warm loved up feelings. My brain feels like it's about to implode in on itself and my body temp is all over the place. Doesn't feel healthy at all. I don't trust this stuff in combination with strong serotonin releasers (MDMA/Meph/6-ABP/AMT) which is strange because with ket this isn't an issue at all.

There was a dude at an illegal rave in Hampshire a few weeks back who took MDMA+Meph and seemed fine, then did a fat line of MXE shortly after and his heart stopped beating. His mates pretty much left him for dead but luckily someone else phoned an ambulance and they managed to get his heart started again. It was in the news, but they hadn't gotten the tox results back when the article was published so there was no mention of MXE. They were more interested in the 50 empty N2O chargers found in the marshes.

... heart stopped beating. His mates pretty much left him for dead .....

I never thought I'd echo that 90s drug advert in which some dude falls off a bridge on drugs and his friends take him to hospital and the doctor takes him away and his friends say 'where are you taking him? We're his friends' and the doctor just looks at them darkly but I'm that doctor right now.

That's a good idea. Despite his name Lord Strobes has no idea what happens on the nation's dancefloors and PE might just leap on this as it's outside their usual remit and has plenty of elements which they can sneer / exaggerate their fuddy-duddy confuzzlement at. They are damn good at digging when the wind is in the right direction.

Holy shit, Private Eye could have a field day.

And it'd be fucking hilarious!

Quite a shocking viral/marketing scam this guy has pulled. I really hope this does not get methoxetamine banned. I have reported his facebook page, he is just being cocky about it all.

Well, if people fancied collaborating on a letter to send in, post bits up to the thread, and I'm happy to help edit it. I have access to most journal articles, and a bit of medical knowledge, so could look to pull together any helpful links to back up what this chem actually is.

This is what worries me. People are going to take pills, then get offered a line of this, being told it's just like ket, and there'll be incidents like this. I still want to know why this happens. I've not read anything positive about the combo. I didn't feel as if MXE had any serotonergic action.

Will giving this more attention in the media through the Guardian or Private Eye not just make the situation worse?

I don't think this needs any more attention.

From nominet, the WHOIS standard's agency.

Hi Transform,

Thank you for your email.

No problem at all – two for the price of one – both domain names [www.roflc*pter.co.uk and www.roflc*ptr.co.uk are being dealt with regard to the WHOIS opt out!

Transform, who is that from? & what does "being dealt with" mean?

Re the Digital Journal article -

The new ‘rave drug’ is called Roflcoptr, which is a street-speak acronym for “Roll On the Floor Laughing Crapping Our Pants Totally Ruined”.

Have they had to make up the "street-speak" as well seeing as everywhere else other than bawjaws website spells it roflcopter?

I'm liking the sound of this

I don't for one minute think the guy ran out of stock like his shitty front page says so I hope he's in trouble & had to suspend trading due to over whatever domain/web/whatever legislation he's been flouting. When a web business runs out of stock, they don't just limit the shop to a front page notice and block out the whole store and stop people from looking around.
the guy has got an embarrassing 190 twitter followers and he's following 2000+. he's had about 15 comments posted on his feed, and they're mainly roflcoptr clones/groups affiliated to him. all the rest of the comments are retweets he's made of anyone who has referenced roflcoptr or the articles in nme/mixmag. this does not ring true of a site or product that's in demand

If this is due to your reporting or emailing relevant whomevers Transform, then big kudos to you

You can't opt out of having your address listed on the whois database if you're trading, which he clearly is. Well done transform.

excellent news! ... hopefully this will put an end to his business

what's the main reason someone would opt out watson's?

obviously so no-one could get the name and addy of the owner, but what other reasons

did I read back in the thread that it was in november he opted out? ... which is when I think the mixmag thing seems to of come about.

hmn ... also, he couldn't find a credit card payment system to support his store until then either. maybe he's got something to hide regarding previous money related stuff? ..

This is unlikely to change much, but it will help to make Russel Cope's business a bit more transparent.

I think trying to ensure that everywhere that mentions it calls it roflcopter might be the best compromise we can get, although it's well worth asking them to remove the term.

I guess the only reason is privacy, I've opted out on all of my .uk domains just because I can. My address is on a need to know basis and anyone viewing my privately run websites does not need to know.

Looks like the whois has been updated, speedy work nominet!

Sadly you can put down a PO box.. or your work address if you want and it seems that's what he may have done
