Mixing Vidodin with alcohol

I have been taking vicodin for pain for the past week. My girlfriend just broke up with me so i want to go drinking with my buddies. I just took one vicodin an hour ago. would it be okay if i went and got hammered drunk?

Combining alcohol and acetaminophen is an excellent way to get liver failure, or severe liver damage.

Sorry man, sit this one out :(
 
just drink a couple brews and don't go overboard, IMO
 
I took about 45mg hydrocodone (4.5 grams APAP, spread out over the day) on new years eve and had 6 beers. Granted I'm not a huge drinker and I kept pretty well hydrated.

You should be fine but if you're still nervous just drink a glass of water every other drink and you'll be fine (minus the bathroom breaks)
 
I'm not saying this combination is great for your health, but relative to drug abuse in general, drinking on a single vicodin is not really something to worry too much about. It's dentists' favorite combo.

Just don't try to drink yourself to death.

I don't want to start a new thread on this but since u are a mod Im sure u have vast experience. Im a heavy drinker occasional pill popper. I actually like the way hydrocone/oxycodone and alcohol mix. I am starting to get more concerned about the liver effects with the APAP and all....I only ingest pills, the only way I will. I tried CWE once but it was more of a novelty one night real intoxicated. My use is also not known around the house if u get me right...

How bad is it for your liver? Is there an easy CWE method/fast? Am I missing out on real oxycodone/hydrocodone effects( I usually eat 10-20 mills on a night drinking)

Thanks for the help and any responses would be appreciated
 
I feel that when I'm on my hydrocodone dose for the day, that drinking alcohol not only can be damaging to the liver( which takes a few days for person to find out they have liver failure!! )
but it takes away from what I call....purephoria...meaning it dulls out the euphoria from my dones. Not a good idea to drink and take opiates for many many more reasons than these two but this is just my opinion.
 
Thank you for the response tos 26. I have a feeling your dose levels are higher. An L-10 or 7.5 occasionally suit me fine. Mind if I ask how occasional u dose/doseage?

If I take that amount with no booze, I barely feel effect though. Orally how long would you say to kick in? I usually wait until I have a steady alcohol buzz before ingesting...and I only orally ingest
 
This is a harm reduction forum, those of you reccomending that he drink with acetaminophen ought to be ashamed. Acetaminophen is the #1 cause of liver failure in the US, and combining it in proximity to alcohol is extremely dangerous. This isn't my forum, but I'd close this thread if it were.

I am a fan of the "low dose opiate high"....20mg's twice a day..I take 10/325's. Please don't drink with APAP!!!

Closing this thread would be more ridiculous than only allowing the discussion of the intranasal and smoked ROAs for heroin, not IV. no one is saying it is harmless; the degree of the risk and reward is being discussed and assessed. sure it is not good for you, but neither is recreational drug use in general.
 
If you took ONE Vicodin (regardless of strength) and go out and get piss drunk, you'll be fine. The APAP content in most pills is somewhere between 325-750mg which is no different than taking a lot of Tylenol. The 5-10mg of Hydrocodone will have virtually no interaction with alcohol whatsoever. If you already have some existing undiagnosed liver or kidney condition, it's probably not too great for you -- but neither is drinking anything at all in that case.

Taking huge amounts of Vicodin and drinking or doing this over a long period of time will seriously mess you up. Speaking from personal experience on that. Beyond worrying about your liver, consider this:

I never (at least, I REALLY hope I didn't... ) did any major damage to myself - but I did go for a ~2-3 year period where I was taking anywhere from 10-25 Vicodin a day and drinking constantly. Some nights I would wake up having pissed all over the place. Why? Taking Vicodin gives you major whizz constipation (sorry, I don't know what the correct term is for this... LOL) which enables you to seriously overload your bladder and kidneys while drinking obscene amounts of alcohol. It backs up the whole process and seriously overworks your insides to the point where you're really pushing it close to organ failure/damage. At some point, as long as everything's working - it all has to come out, though... so while I was asleep and the Vicodin would wear off... BOOM. Piss everywhere. Disgusting, and horribly embarrassing. Would never even admit this to anyone I know IRL, haha.

But there's your "cautionary tale"/harm reduction for anyone thinking of starting a nice Vicodin/Percocet addiction while being an alcoholic. Is there anything shittier than being a grown adult and pissing your bed regularly? Not much I can think of! I stopped drinking completely (which was tough, but nowhere as tough as kicking opiates) years ago and once I did that problem went with it. I have a beer or a few shots every once in awhile still, but it's tough cuz when I first smell alcohol it immediately reminds me of waking up in a disgustingly hot room smelling of booze and my own fucking urine covered clothes and sheets. It's at least a great deterrent... live and learn!

I appreciate the concern and I hope you don't close the thread. My question is really as an occasional oxy/hydro pill user(not daily), but heavy drinker...how bad is it...If the pill habit picks up and the drinking continues(it will) I guess is my question. I like the forum and think highly of this place. Just looking for real info. Thanks

Anyone with experience or views are welcome please
 
Well I've drank on acetaminophen plenty of times but I know that it was bad for me but I did it anyway because I was a drunk and a pill addict. I'm pretty sure that it isn't a good idea. Maybe if you have just a few drinks with one Vicodin you shouldn't run across any major problems. Its just 500mg of acetaminophen.
 
I have one measly, single Hydrocodone, 7.5/750. Out of habit, Im going to do a cold water extraction, even though its a safe dose. I have a pretty low pill tolerance, because I only do this every other weekend, maybe once a month, and it usually only takes 2 pills to get me higher than a kite, but all ive got is 1 right now. I've got a bunch of ibproufen 800's, but i heard thats horrid on your liver. Would combining the hydrocodone (cold water extracted) with an ib proufen 800 intensify the buzz at all? Would it be better (or safer) to drink _NO MORE THAN ONE_ glass of wine? (I also have a pretty low wine tolerance- one glass is all i need for a good buzz) Thats all i have in the way of intoxicants, and I want to get as buzzed as possible without hurting myself. thanks

No matter how much ibprofen you take, you wont catch a buzz, theres no recreational value to it.

While ibuprofen doesn't help opiates, I've read that aleve (naproxen) will help make the it a "warmer" opiate buzz. I read this on a website that is all about potinating opiates.
