Mixing Valium and Hydrocodone.

Hello, people of Bluelight! Need a little help here. I took 20mg of hydrocodone about an hour ago. My tolerance level has dropped a bit since I don't take them as often as I used to, and I took them on an empty stomach. Point is, I'm definitely catching a buzz from the Norco's. I also have three 5mg Valium pills. I'm not benzo-tolerant at all. I mean I've taken them here and there. A few weeks ago I took 2mg (a full bar) of Xanax and just felt drunk, haha. But basically what I'm asking is, would it be alright to take 10mg of Valium along with the hydrocodone. What about 15mg, or is that too much?
 
Unlike Xanax which only has a half life of 15 hours Valium has a half life of 100+ hours so don't take too large a dose because you could fall asleep and end up in trouble. Even if not right away a few days down the line you could take a large dose of hydro forgetting you took the Valium previously and you could OD. Keep In mind Valium is not a drug to get high on it simply keeps a mentally unstable person chilled out for the day and doesn't carry much if any euphoria even in high doses. Most black out before experiencing any sort of a "high".

Short acting benzos such as Xanax tend to carry more euphoria in a shorter time frame they are more for sudden panic attacks whereas Valium is for keeping you mellow around the clock.

It sounds like you don't have a tolerance to benzos and if your already high on opiates you further increase the chances of respiratory depression since they are both CNS depressants which surpress breathing. Your better not to take any of you want my opinion but if you insist then take 5-10mgs I wouldn't recommend anymore than that.

I wouldn't mix the 2 at all. If you do you'll want to know peak time for both drugs… and 'still' I wouldn't suggest it. It takes a while for the body to restore homeostasis and without a tolerance it could be dangerous, due to the respiratory depressive effects. The valium will peak later probably as the drug you just took is probably peaking now, but even then I wouldn't mix them. Valium is more disguised too which can lead one to not feel it so much. Xanax used to hit me pretty hard, Valium is more gradual, longer acting…. lingers in the system.
 
^^yea exactly its not as noticeable the Valium so you could be fine then next thing you know your having trouble breathing and you haven't even felt any sort of "high". Valium is not a drug to get high on and its not worth it to risk your life for it that's all I have to say.
 
Great things said above, just thought id add that imo, benzos don't add anything to the opiate buzz, so I wouldn't bother mixing them

They don't potentiate or improve the high, just make you closer to passing out and more fucked up - without that warm opiate high -.
 
Well since I didn't get a response, and I did a little bit of research on it, I took 10mg of the Valium..only because the high from the Norco was so short...the effects only lasted for an hour and a half. I took the hydrocodone around 7:15 and didn't take the Valium until like 10:00. I feel fine..just a little sleepy. But after reading all the comments, now I'm kinda freaking out..
 
^ Yeah, benzos in general never got me high… they would dissolve the high. I would take them when I was too agitated from opiates (not that it was a good idea). They helped me pass out.

I just noticed your response kiznard. I would try to stay awake for a little while. This sounds silly but i used to set an alarm for an hour or 2 in case I overdosed. This was more to appease my state of mind … so know I was ok if I passed out.
 
I'm just worried now, after taking the two together from all the comments above..

So when you woke up, how would you know if you were okay?

Well, I couldn't be actually sure I was ok …. but at least I felt better that I was alive and the peak time of both drugs had pretty much dissolved, and the nod if I had one was mostly over. I was more appeased. You didn't take ALOT, and will probably be okay, but just be cautious.

I'm sorry you in this place, I know it well… It's not fun. :\
 
Well I called the poison control center lol, and they told me the amount I had taken wasn't toxic and that I would be fine.
 
Since I took the hydro's at like 7 and the Valium around 10... Have they peaked? When will they both be out of my system?
 
Oh, good to hear the amount isn't toxic. The hydros have probably peaked indeed … but will linger a little.
The valium will peak around 1 - 1.5 hours with a range to 2.5 hours approx depending on if you ate or not with it. Eating will delay somewhat. People have the most problems ime when they take both together, peaks within same 2 hour range. Luckily you didn't do this… :) The hyrdos will be out of your system sooner…
 
The half life of hydrocodone is like 3.5 hours right? Doesn't that mean around 10:30, half of the dose was reduced?? Meaning only 10mg is lingering now? LOL. I suck with half-lives. (Thank you for replying and helping me out. I really appreciate it.)
 
The dose you mentioned in the OP was fine anyway imo, but I tried to stress that benzos don't usually go well with opies. Opiates alone are easier to measure and realize you've done too much, but when you mix, it isn't imo.

Not long ago I said fuck it, IVed 30mgs of morphine, decided I wasn't high enough and ate another 120mgs. All that having consumed 2.5mgs of clonazepam not too earlier. I was not high as hell, but I passed out and didn't even notice, woke up and my body temp was incredibly low, I was fucking pale... scared me a bit, so yeah take care
 
Some scary info in this thread, but its just a reality check. A ton of od's happen while, mixing the opiate with some form of benzo.
 
I fell asleep after my last post it was getting late and I had work today.

I never meant to scare the shit out of you its just good to be aware and not to keep adding more and more Valium or hydro like so many do. It would be very unlikely someone would die from 20mg hydrocodone and 10mg Valium its when people keep adding more and more to get more euphoria when they run into trouble. Just don't make a habit out of mixing the two drugs or else you will keep pushing your limits. Tolerance to the euphoria felt comes on long before any physical tolerance is felt. Meaning although a dose may no longer get you high its still suppressing your breathing the same way so when you add more to get back your high your also adding to the chances of respiratory depression.

And try not to worry yourself sick thats how you get panic attacks then convince yourself your going to die.

Its hard to say exactly how much hydrocodone would have been in your body everyone metabolises substances at a different pace. But the half life and the duration of action are not the same thing on average hydrocodone will work for around 6 hours after that most of it is gone or is not affecting you anymore.

Did the Valium even add to your high any?
