hey guys, i took 100mg of tramadol around 5-6 hours ago, and was wondering if it would be safe to take 50mg oxy (my usual dose) now? for some reason im starting to feel the itch from the tramadol right now, so not sure if it is still affecting me. (btw i only took the tramadol because i had legit pain and it was the only strong painkiller i had at my disposal..) how long does tramadol usually last after you take it? should i just wait til the itch is completely gone before i dose? CHEERS!

**edit** 50mg of oxy is my recreational dose, im not taking the oxy for pain :)

Tramadol's half life is 5-7 hours.

You are probably safe to take your oxycodone. I might start off with a slightly lower dosage (40 mg) just to be on the safe side. Tramadol is a very weak opioid.

Im jealous of people that get pain relief from Tramadol.......I never could :( Non the less, mixing oxy with it is ok & you shouldnt have any problems after several hours.

Ok so I went ahead and did it... And all I can say is WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! For some reason I could barely feel the oxy at all! Btw I took 50mg phenergan beforehand aswell. Usually this combo has me noddy, but I felt 0. I think maybe the tramadol blocked the effects? It was so strange, I don't even have a high tolerance to oxy. Anyone know what caused this?

Yeah the tramadol could definitely have been blocking the effects. Often if you take 2 similar drugs without enough time in between you will have a temporarily elevated tolerance and the second drug will not affect you nearly as strongly a usual. But don't ever bank on this and take more than you usually would because the tolerance doesn't apply to respiratory depression, just the high.

Yeah my MSG to anyone, don't try this at home. Wish I had of known before I wasted my oxy. Wasn't high, but copped all the side effects (very itchy, not able to urinate, constipated for 2 days etc) not fun when I didn't even get high :/

I get feelings like I'm literally on a mild opiate nod and a somewhat low level of an MDMA trip. Tramadol IS strange. I love it, but not everyone metabolizes it as well as I do, I suppose. It's quite worth using, for me, and it's one of the only opiates I'll still dose orally (I've IV'd the others, and won't go back).

It mixed well with morphine, for me, so I'd assume it'd mix well with oxycodone too.

Tramadol's half life is 5-7 hours.

O-Desmethyltramadol's half-life is 9 hours, and it starts kicking in 2-2.5 hours after you take the tramadol. O-Des is the powerful opioid agonist that tramadol is a prodrug to, and is responsible for the opioid activity from tramadol. O-Des gives me a solid 9-12 hours of analgesia and other opioid effects, confirmed with pinned pupils, 9-12 hours after it kicks in.

Tramadol is a very weak opioid.

Not necessarily... It's just weak with your unique level of CYP2D6 liver enzymes, making you convert very little tram into O-Des. I remember you saying you were white; a lot of Caucasians are deficient in CYP2D6.

Tramadol is a powerful opioid for me, 50mg tram is stronger than 15mg of hydrocodone with my CYP2D6 polymorphism.
