in your medicine cabinent
okay, so im on tamadol, 350 mgs, i took them around 2 o clock this afternoon. im wondering if it would be alright for me to sip some of the syrup. are there any contridictions between these drugs? and also, the syrup that i have dosnt have the mg of the drugs in it. it says its the red/purple color if that helps. any answers are appreciated, thanks

Don't take drugs of unknown concentrations. In the United States, it would be illegal not to have the active ingredients concentrations written on the bottle. Is the label ripped off or something? How do you know what you have is codeine/prometh?

We have no idea how long it has been since 2pm, can't find the timezone for "in your medicine cabinent"

its been around 6 hours in my medicine cabinent. and normally it would, but its not like the paper labels on pill bottles. its laminated and all that and you could peel part of the label off without leaving evidence of doing so. and its not been tampered with as far as the cap.

I'm sorry man but there's something I'm not getting. There has to be more written on the label than Promethazine-Codeine Red-Purple. If you got this medication in the United States, it has the concentration of the active ingredients written on the bottle somewhere.

For example:

^ Most codeine/promethazine syrups have that same concentration, in my experience

im serious, it has no mg of active ingredients. but would it be okay, since ergic said there mostly the same mg give or take a little bit, to drink just a little of it and see how i feel?

No, it's not safe to dose based on assumptions. We still don't know what you're working with besides "promethazine - codeine, red - purple" and that's not enough information to safely give dosing information.

If it was made and sold in the United States, it has the active ingredients written on the bottle somewhere unless the labels been torn off, which should be easy to determine by looking at it.

^ Add that to the fact that promethazine is a CYP2D6 inducer, and things get even more tricky as more tramadol -> O-Desmethyltramadol and more codeine -> morphine through more active (induced) CYP2D6 enzymes.

When you say a little sip, you do mean 28-34% of a sip, right?

For the love of God, just don't take any more than 36.7% of a sip 8o

See? ;) This is how useless speculating is, and is why we don't allow it on Bluelight. What defines "little"? Answer: We don't know, "little" to me can mean something completely different to you.

a little sip is just like a small sip of water. but what im asking is there will be no bad interactions right?

Tramadol does not play nice with other drugs, and I can't say with certainty that it is safe to mix with DXM, I have very little experience with both of these drugs, it would be wise to wait instead of dosing.

In case anyone was considering it, there's no reason to take DXM with tramadol. Tramadol's already an NRI, as is DXM, and mixing more than 30mg of DXM with anything over 200mg of tramadol puts you at a serious risk of seizure.

I wouldn't recommend anyone taking more than 200mg of tramadol at a time, and not more than 250mg in a day. If you are going to use any sort of stimulant, then dose no more than 100mg of tramadol in a day, seriously. Even 150mg doses of tram have been known to give people seizures.
