Mixing stimulants with no results (ritalin, vyvanase, adderall)

Ive been prescribed multiple stimulants over the years (Adderall, vyvanase and Ritalin). As time went on they became less and less effective (thus switching medications). I still cannot feel any sort of motivational or energetic effects even in high dosages. I use to get so much motivation, energy and concentration when I first started Adderall 4 years ago but lately have not experienced those feelings for the past 2 years. Tonight I took one 36mg Ritalin (9pm) then one 35mg Adderall (11pm), one 40mg vyvanse(2am), one 36mg Ritalin(3-4am), one 36mg Ritalin(5am), and another 36mg Ritalin(7am). I am sitting here at 8:30 am laying in bed confused. I took them all orally with not much food in my stomach. I have a pretty increased heart rate, extreme dry mouth and some aching in my jaw but that is all. Still no motivation or energy to get up.... which doesn't make sense to me. Someone help! Is this an issue with me? And if so how much should I take?!

I would stop mixing amphetamines and phenidates immediately.
Which one do you like the most?

Consider taking a three day or a week long break from all your meds. Then come back and stick to one. Out of that combination I would probably stick to using vyvanse daily.

Sounds to me like you've developed a high tolerance, perhaps a long 'break' off of stimulants in general would help with your failure to achieve any effects from them. If it's not a matter of tolerance, it's likely that prolonged use has damaged you in some way. However, take this with a grain of salt as I have little to no knowledge regarding damage due to amphetamines. However, mixing these compounds together, especially in high doses, is unsynergistic. The fact that you're experiencing some of the side effects but very little to none of the effects that you're trying to achieve makes me think that the compounds you are using are cancelling each other out. Methylphenidate's interaction with amphetamines is similiar to that of Cocaine's interaction with amphetamines. The combination of amphetamines and cocaine will block the effects of amphetamines. This happens because cocaine blocks DAT, SERT, and NET which are the transporters that amphetamine relies on to mediate their actions.

Perhaps your best bet is eliminating use of all stimulants for a bit, in an effort to eliminate your tolerance. Mixing these meds together does more harm than good, as evidenced by the primarily negative side effects.

^ as DA said, combining high doses of different drugs can be pointless. Better to just take more of a single one, sometimes they block each others effects.

I take focalin xr as I'm prescribed for it but it doesn't feel very strong it just helps me focus slightly. Sometimes I mix it with adderall and that makes me very motivated and focused but also kind of high but nothing bad has happened from this. I think the others are right tho that you might need a break and mixing can be dangerous although from mixing focalin xr and adderall xr In my experience has been fine and I've felt great

I have narcolepsy and add so it's hard to find what meds work for me lol but I'm currently taking Wellbutrin 450 mgs nuvigil 250 mgs 70 mgs in the morning and then in the afternoon around 2pm I ta an adderall 20 mg . It's not gonna be like a cure ever lol but for now this is the closest doctors have gotten me to functioning like a normal human. Which is why I'm actually on here posting against for the first time in probably over a year lol
Hope you find what works for you. Oh and for real, I used to think it was bullshit, but try getting a good nights sleep every night and routine times, eat a bit better, hydrate, and fit more activity into your life even if it's just walking extra. I actually noticed a bit of an increase in my alertness and energy levels.

In reply to Alexisismynams ->Typically, use of both substances mentioned are better to be used in low doses. Higher doses typically cancel each other out moreso than lower doses. So I can see why you developed such a nice feeling that you mentioned. From personal experience, it is also dependent on which I take first. I find that if I take the methylphenidate first, and then generic amphetamine salts/adderall it really boosts my overall feeling. However, taking Adderall first and then Focalin just kinda ceases all 'good' feelings and leaves me the lingering negative ones. That's only from my personal experience though, every wo/man to his own!

But in relevance to the question, if you must take both, take lower doses. It's a bit more sensible. Though, I feel like your best bet would be picking a stimulant you like the best, and sticking to it after a good break off of all stimulants.

Thank you guys so much. I'm going to try and increase the dosages with smaller mg pills (about 10-20mg) instead of immediately doubling on pills like 40mg.
