^ Absinthe sucks (IMHO), tastes like Robotussin. And all the hype is just propaganda. Back in the day, in France, Absinthe was becoming increasingly popular. It's sales were surpassing that of wine. So what did the wine people do? They spread the rumor that Absinthe was an hallucinogenic beverage. It both worked and back-fired. They were able to get Absinthe illegal, however they had no idea how much the counter-culture would seek it out... to see that "magical green fairy"

Much like the way Cannabis was made illegal in the U.S.A. It was a racist campaign to give cops an excuse to arrest minorities, Mexicans specifically. But it was largely funded by the Alcohol Industry (for obvious reasons), and the paper/textile industries.

Same reason we are still guzzling oil, when we already have viable replacements for fossil fuel. Fuck the corporations.

This is all largely the result of capitalism. Sorry for the rant.

So Wormwood Extract, eh?

Considering Wormwood Extract is mildly stimulating I'd have to go with the lightest of (recreational) sedatives: Cannabis.
