Bluelighter
balmy summer evening
a fresh tear cools her cheek
she wants to share her pain
but cannot speak
misunderstood
because of lies she's told
her body aches
her thoughts are cold
clasping a blade
pressing it to her skin
searching for an unmarked spot
waiting to begin
dragging the blade across her arm
blood begins to drip
enjoying the sense of calm this brings
her mind begins to slip
back to when she was happiest
when she lived her life carefree
before she came to grips
with the harsh, cold face of reality
memories are her only vice now
things will never be the same
as this sense of calm wears off
she feels nothing but shame
the world seems dark and heavy
as she opens up her eyes
all alone in her guilt and remorse
she slowly, softly cries
the light breeze in the midnight air
sends shivers down her spine
she looks at the blade still in her hand
and reassures herself things will be fine
a fresh tear cools her cheek
she wants to share her pain
but cannot speak
misunderstood
because of lies she's told
her body aches
her thoughts are cold
clasping a blade
pressing it to her skin
searching for an unmarked spot
waiting to begin
dragging the blade across her arm
