Hey guys, for the first time ever I missed a shot a few minutes ago. I know I'm supposed to go to the doctors when this happens however how do I do it discretely so that the doctor doesn't call my pain doctor and let them know. Since all they do is cut it open and drain the fluids is it possible for me to do that by myself? Should I even be concerned or should I wait for it to show symptoms?

wait a day, iif its an infected pus absest, go to the hosputal, its its just rerally swollen red and hurts it will go away inna few days, happend to me plenty of time

Don't even think about lancing a missed shot, that's a horrible idea on so many levels.
Put a warm wash cloth over it and keep a close eye on it, if it's not better in 24 hours go to the ER.

OP just put a hot compress on it for 15-20 minutes 4 times a day as wiggi said.
happened to me plenty times and i was shooting meth.
everything should be fine with time and the hot compress, if things get worse or show signs of infection or abscess seek medical attention.

i'v missed heaps and been fine, just keep an aye on it, do a little research so you know what to look for and then relax!!! Don't hesitate to go to docs if gets worse tho!

Just because you missed a shot doesn't mean you have an abscess. Those are two very different things. A missed shot is just an injection that goes into the tissue surrounding your vein instead of in the vein itself... an abscess is an actual infection. You'll know if you have one.. it's nasty.. as long as you were using clean needles and proper technique, theres no reason to think a miss will get infected. Doctor is always a good bet anyway but... if you don't want to go right away then like others said, hot water compress for 20 minutes to disperse the drug from your tissue and then an ice pack to bring down the swelling. Should go away considerably in 24 hours.. if not, or if it gets worse, go to the doctor or ER.
U just missed no biggie you gotta make sure you pull the plunger back and check for blood. If you don't see blood you aren't in. Sometimes u can see blood and still miss too, which is a total bummer. U don't need to go to the doctor unless you get an infection.
