So im an experienced heroin user who does his stuff intravenously.

I have missed many a shot and have been able to take care of all that has come. Abscesses, swelling, blown veins etc.

Yesterday I was shooting and accidently slipped out of vein. Thought I had re registered and plunged with no pain. Figured out soon that the shot was missed and immediately the skin underneath the injection site turned as black as the tar was and looks like a bruise only deep black identical to the gears color and not much pain/bleeding and little swelling.

Should I be worried?

dont SWIM here

that is wierd i havent heard of anything like that before, maybe you have some bruising going on. if it stays that way or gets worse, go to a doctor

all we can say really is that u probably should seek medical attention.

with that said... if it doesnt get any better within 24 hours i would certainly goto the hospital and be HONEST!

also take the SWIMs out of your post. we dont do that here, its annoying and offers zero legal protection.

Sorry about the stupid swim business I didn't look to see if that was the usual protocol here and didn't want to get hounded by a bunch of people accusing me of self incrimination!

It is very weird though. I honestly feel like it is literally the remnants of the tar I shot accumulated under the skin as it happened immediately after injection and does not hurt when touched. It doesn't seem to be getting worse, 12 hours has gone by and the swelling has reduced to virtually nothing and the area of blackness seems to have resided a small amount.

It's black? ... That does not sound good. The only thing you can do is treat it like you normally would a missed shot (hot compress, etc) and if it gets worse or doesn't get any better, seek medical attention. The whole "black" thing would be a big red flag to me and I'd be on my way to the doctor..

Yeah I understand it sounds alarming. Honestly something similar had happened before; hit a vein in my hand and the same situation played out. Hit the shot, injected some, and slipped out of the vein. I got mad dope fiend tunnel vision and kept trying to get it again and it would be tricky, pretending as if another register occurred and next thing I know I've stubbornly and stupidly missed a bunch and dinged up the vein pretty good. Same thing though, instantly turned black as if the tar had collected around the injection site and honestly it swelled up much worse than this case and developed much more of a sign that infection was imminent. After about 48 hours I was on the verge of going to the ER, slept it out one more night and the next morning it was drastically better.

This one is simply just similar to a bruise but black like the tar and very little damage other than that. guess I was posting to see if maybe someone had had a similar mishap.

I would also agree with the above, the color black, is usually not a good sign.

Anyway, I just want to know, are you in WDs? Do you lose your dope if you miss a shot?

teo - the missed iv will likely be either absorbed subcutaneously or intramuscularly. whether it becomes infective is anyones guess right now. id be keeping a good eye on it and considering medical attention with it being black in colour.

Friend,if you missed the vein you still felt the effects, correct? Most likely because this is black tar heroin you have a "tattoo" effect. Still-safety first always and if it swells turns red throbs seek medical att'n.

It's the result of skin popping the tar. Watch it for signs of infection. In all likelihood you are fine. If something seems to be going wrong (abscess or something similar) go to the doctor or ER. Sometimes that happens when you inject tar to close to the surface of your skin. Over time it will go away, but it might take a long damn time. Also don't shoot into that vein for ten to fourteen days. The tar around the vein won't be doing it any favors and shooting into it is just further exacerbating the damage. Warm compresses and massage may help the black mass go away faster.

If you have any questions hit me up via PM.

man im glad i live on the east coast when it comes to shooting dope...i mean if i lived where there is only tar id be slamming that too, but as it has it, im glad i have the option.

I appreciate the well informed response. All seems to be healing just fine. Thanks again!
