okay last night around 18 hours ago I gave myself a small shot of coke. sterilized the spoon and the site. I inserted the needle and while i was seeing if i registered I think i pulled out of the vein. blood came in the syringe as though i had registered but i think i was just too stupid to realize I had messed up. after plunging .2ml of coke and sterile water there was a bump at the site. but since has turned to a bruise with a few redlines around it ala the pictures. My arm doesn't hurt but im sore where the bruise is. I'm sorry if i posted in the wrong place but please answer... thanks

If you are unsure about complications from intravenous administration of a substance then you should seek medical attention.

Okay Tripman, I will definitely do that next time I post anything NSFW. I know everyone is different, however seeking medical attention introduces other complications I would rather save myself from. I have zero money and am just looking to this community for input. thanks.

seek some medical attention. That defiantly doesn't look good and should be looked at.

yeah even if you will be fine you might as well go to the ER because they can make sure you're ok you don't want to get an abscess or lose your arm or even die better safe than sorry

It could be a normal missed shot that will heal on it's own with the application of some hot cloths, or it could be infected or something. How long ago did this happen? Is it getting better or worse? Do you have any symptoms? I have definitely had misses that bruised badly like that before and healed fine on their own, but red streaks going up the arm can be a sign of infection. I think it's too difficult to tell over the internet and that it's worth it to go to a clinic or something.

It has been 32 hours since the shot. The red streaks have gone, nothing hurts except tenderness right on the bruise, and I do bruise easy. No symptoms, the bruise has spread out a bit not the same darkness. No red streaks anymore though. Thanks for the replies. what should I expect at the er?

what symptoms am I looking for?

Edit: I've been using a heat pack, some nsaid blood thinners, and started a round of antibiotics.

Don't freak the poor OP out, it could just as easily be nothing but a bruise from a missed shot. OP, let us know how you are and if it's better or you decided to see a doctor or what.

^really..?

Freak him out, it's getting worse and he shouldn't be an idiot and just ride it out.

Dude got to a fucking hospital.

It'll be fine. I've done this plenty of times with heroin, speed, ketamine etc etc as a result of being a wasted fool. It goes away eventually. If you go to ER they just treat you like dirt and put loads of shit you don't want on your medical records. In Scotland anyway. Obviously don't take my word for it but in my experience the body is pretty resilient to all sorts of abuse. It's only if pain is gradually getting worse that I'd say you have a real problem. Looking at the date I see this is a few days old now. HOw about an update on your situation? Did you go to ER? What happened and how is it now?

How is it getting worse? He said it was getting better, it looks better, and he's taking antibiotics. Not saying he shouldn't get medical attention, just that it's counterproductive to say definitive things like "you're going to be in a world of trouble". I feel like when people are just like "ZOMG get to the hospital immediately" over a bruise it can actually make the person less likely to do it because they think people are over-reacting. The reality is we can't know over the internet whether or not this will lead to complications - it could be fine, it could be serious - and if in doubt someone should always go to a doctor, better safe than sorry. Personally I just think it's more in the interest of HR to be realistic and to tell them the risks and signs to look for that indicate infection or other complications etc so they can make an educated decision.

OP - look for symptoms like if it worsens or the pain gets worse, swelling, the area feeling hotter than the surrounding skin, fever/chills, feeling generally sick, red lines or streaks growing up your arm, numbness or tingling down your arm or hand, etc. If you develop any of those seek medical attention right away. Keep applying hot cloths. Please let us know how you are.

Now 62 hours in. Talked to a friend that is dating a doctor, doc said I pushed through the vien causing the huge bruise and caused some trama to the muscle, So some swelling from the muscle trama and a large bruise because I pushed through.
Still taking antibiotics to be safe, and watching it, have kept a heat pack on when I can. Still using a blood thinner. Everything seems to be getting better, the bruise has spread out. No heat at the source. Only pain is from the actual bruise, which doesn't hurt out of the normal. Still keeping an eye on it.
I give myself shots IM regularly for allergies so I prep'd the area very well and I know I bruise easy. Still nervous anyways.
