Hi OD,

After trying to shoot in my good ol' radial artery on my right hand, just under the thumb, i missed about 75% of the shot. I have missed before, but have never had a numb lump at the injection site (i have had the redness however.) I've been softly massaging the lump since the injection, which happened about 15 minutes ago. Is this a big deal or should i just leave it be like all my other missed shots?

Thanks in advance.

First off, I'm hoping you meant you were trying to hit a vein and not an artery.
The best thing you can do for now is apply a warm compress to it. Monitor it to make sure it doesn't get worse and form an abscess.

Yeah, its labelled as that on some hand vein map i googled. its just the vein that runds along your thumb and down your wrist right on the side of your wrist. will do the warm compress, it already seems to be decreasing in size. Thanks for the advice.

Holy shit! I too hope you were aiming for a vein, not any artery :S. Damn. If an artery WAS intended, make sure to switch to (only) veins.

As Tommyboy said - hot/warm presses are used for such situations. Keep an eye on the spot, make sure it doesn't seem to 'get worse', note if it seems painful to you (or, more painful as time passes), if it is hot(ter), or any other abnormal feeling associated (with a bump due to said reasons). If it and appears to and feels like it's get better as time passes that's a good sign.

As always, if something seems VERY wrong, the spot gets way worse, or you're just getting bad vibes from it go seek medical help/advice.

Okay, thanks for all the advice. The redness has faded, but the lump is still there. Also, I was most definately not aiming for an artery, haha. The bump is not numb now, but slightly painful to the touch. If it gets worse I'll go to the doctor. thanks all.

Man, Never, ever ever, inject into your neck or your bicep...i did both last night, and today all day was in excrutiating pain....i could barely put clothes on, couldnt even shower. What a nightmare

@OP As long as it's not still warm 24 hours later, you're (probably) in the clear. The lump will stay and be sore for a few days. Do compresses and let it heal. (Which means don't hit the same spot)

@pauly Did you miss or IM? It depends on what you shot, but a clean shot, even in those locations, shouldn't hurt.

i IMed very diluted ms contin, i was hoping to get a vein in my neck, and i felt kind of calm after i did it....but i think it was im in the neck too. i gave my doctor the whole bottle of ms contin and got back on opana, im also on dilaudid 4mg 3x/day. So I use sterile water, single use 3ml leur lock dispoasable syringe, and micron filters.....ms contin is just shitty to try to inject. So I have about 20 of the non reformulated 30mg opana ERs left, and I will probably snort those and wait and hope that in september there will be a generic that is snortable again lol. The dilaudid is great for filtering and injecting, a little over 50% extra bioavailability is great for pain relief, and its relatively safe...just use alcohol prep pad, pinch the skin, inject, pull out, and put back in hidden trash bag lol

I've been IVing for a long time, and pills IV seem to do more damage than just about anything I've injected.

You might want to consider a change of ROA. Plugging would be a better alternative than IMing pills. The microns help, but multiple daily IMs of pills, is asking for infection.

The IR hydromorphone pills, if micron filtered, are about as safe as pill IVing can get. So, maybe do 1 IV shot of this a day, then plug the rest.

That sucks. From a HR perspective, you really should consider a change of ROA.
Regular IM shots of things not meant to be IM'd is really asking for infection.
Atleast you micron filter them. .
