A couple days back i was using a new site and apparently i hit a tendon... the heroin(tar) was highly cut and black so i couldnt tell if i was registering. Probably got 10 units in.. of some nasty shit. This was 2 days ago.. doesnt seem serious but along the tendon there is swelling and EXTREME pain. The miss itself was my most painful miss ever. I guess tendons hurts.. i recall from a past tendon miss that was fine it went away slowly. I've been doing hot water. The problem is i havent slept due to iv meth too and not eating much.. so hoping a good night sleep with compress right before will help me out. WIsh i had some antibiotics.

The tendons apparently have a sheath making antibiotics and anything difficult to penetrate.. basically holding in the H (or at least the cut).

Please, let me know what you've done to home treat this.
I'll get antibiotics if it gets too bad. Also, which antibiotic would i want? Cephalexin? Fucking hurts really bad..slightly red and warm but thats because i've been feeling it out. Its the tendon in the crook of arm on the inside. A tiny one.. what shity luck. Have never seen one progress like this..

Come on guys.. i've battled a few almost abscesses.. i use the old scalding hot water for as long as i can handle, as often as possible technique. Yet this time it doesnt seem to be helping at all.. perhaps due to the sheath around the tendon? I really need advice tonight if possible, while it is still early to do at home remedy's. Did i mention the pain is SEVERE? Hopefully a good night sleep with help out..

^I agree, it's hard to know exactly what's going on with it without being able to look at it, even then IDK....If the pain and swelling persists go to a doctor...

I hate to say it, but BL is not emergency health advice. Not trying to be a dick, I really wish I could help, but a message board is not the place for time sensitive health advice. I've never heard of anyone going though what you're dealing with right now, but it really does sound like a hospital visit. Extremely painful, red, and warm is not a good sign.

I agree. Even as a nurse (who would hate to have to tell medical personnel how it happened..but you have to so they can treat it correctly) I am suggesting that you go have it checked and started on antibiotics as soon as possible...the sooner the better. Wait very long at all and you are going to end up having to have IV (and may have to anyways) antibiotics. This is because of exactly what you said, tendons are a bitch to treat..and they can develop permanent painful damage.

It went away on its own.. like i said this was the day of i was freaking out. I normally don't tell people to go to the ER unless it is an emergency.. this was just a missed shot. Anyways hot compresses and sleep was all that was needed. I could have aquired doxycycline if it got bad (what they would have given me at ER, plus a few grand). Had that failed, i would have seen my doctor. Bad experience with ER visits.. so costly, and little help.

Idk about ur state but where I am you can rack up as much ER bills as u want but can set a payment plan up for ANY ammount u want per month so literally can tell them you'll pay them one dollar a month and as long as u do it you're good

Id rather hear you having shit tons of unpaid medical bills then dead dog

And if it came to that i would but if you are an IV user (havent even iv'd in about a week btw) you can't rush to the ER for every little miss you have. It isn't practical. I can treat the problem in its initial stages as well as any doctor with super fucking hot water and proper antibiotics, so why the expense? If i overdosed, thats a different story.

But i realize you are just pushing the HR side of things, and for that i thank you and appreciate your concern.

Maybe not for tiny little misses, but for abscesses and infections you need a doctor. I doubt you have IV antibiotics sitting around, and you'd probably miss putting in the IV line anyway :-P

Ive got enough doxycycline to deal with an abcess and i would be taking it orally. What i thought was an abscess was just swelling from a missed shot. Abscesses normally take a couple days to form.

Perhaps none of you have ever been to a hospital and had a huge bill only for something you could have done at home. Its not fun. I've had very bad hospital experiences as well, such as surgeries that were performed incorrectly, and those are way worse.

I dont want to go to the hospital unless i must. For example, when i was afraid of sharing a needle once, and not sure if the other person had HIV, i went immediately to get prophylactic medication for HIV. Thank god i never got it, the other guy didn't have it, but sometimes you got to play it safe. Did catch hep c though, and had 6 months of interferon treatment to luckily clear it. Sucked as well, but was needed and i couldn't do that on my own.

To say you "need" a doctor for abscesses and infections is simply not always true. If it gets bad and isn't responding to treatment, well sure. But thousands are dealt with all the time with common sense or antibiotics, if you know what you are doing.

Also i have great veins, but had taken IV meth earlier and the vasoconstriction must have fucked me up because i don't ever even tie off due to the fact that i normally always make it on the first go.

I had two abscesses actually from shooting two years ago. I have a scar across my right crook vein from lancing it. Both times required IV antibiotics, and the first was close to going septic. Don't kid yourself that you have some perfect home kit to deal with that shit. I had insurance and it was still expensive, but it's better than dying right?

Luckily needles make me feel sick to look at now.

What you really need is better HR, better sterility, and you won't need to worry about abscesses, ISO pads, clean needles, microfilter, heated to boiling, ect.

Or even better forget the needles and plug it. Works great.
