Missed IV of Coke

Hey Guys I'll cut right to the chase. I IV pretty infrequently (today was the first time in 5-6 months) and today decided it would be a good idea to IV coke. So I had a friend who is well versed in IVing do it for him because steady hands, you know? Now it is unknown what exactly happened, but I assume that the friend missed a medium sized amount (must of slipped out or something). Within seconds I felt the rush but also a lump formed in the crook of his right arm, a sizable one. He immediately put warm compresses on and massaged the area and it went down, now about 2-2.5 hours later the spot is tender, slightly warm, a little swollen, but a ton better from where it was when it had just happened. I massage the area now and then and just stopped with the compresses, also drank a vitamin C packet and put some neosporin/vitamin E oil on. Just wondering if there was more to do, and what should be looked for in case of an abscess or something like that. I'm also is looking on a opinion on how to proceed from here. Thanks everyone!

With time it will go away. It will be annoying, but if it's just a miss you will be fine. Don't worry. Give it a day or 2 and the swelling should go away completely.

You took the correct steps after missing and it will most likely go away within a week or so. The recommendation I read was to use a warm compress intermittently for the next 24 hours after the miss. If it gets any worse see a dr.

(fwiw) Be very careful dosing IV, especially with no tolerance. Also, if you're going to continue to use that ROA figure out how to administer the dose yourself.

It sounds like you are doing all you can to prevent the issue from getting worse. The only true advise is to watch it and if it changes and gets worse rather then getting smaller and less painful seek medical attention immediately, or start writing reasons why you lost an arm that aren't related to this issue, because you may need one.

It sounds like your doing the right stuff though.
