Mislabeled Research Chemicals

Did you notice a significant loss in potency when it turned bright yellow? Call it wishful thinking, but I think my 2C-I is probably fine. I'll still start with no more than 5 mg.

i've ordered from numerous vendors since before operation web tryp and never had a problem. In fact, all my chems have been properly labeled, though with the shulgin name & not IUPAC, but they also had the CAS # which i also double checked before testing. Had gotten kinda lax on the allergy/ID testing until the unfortunate info with the bromo-DFLY

What I do find scary about this kinda thing, is that with no frame of reference (as in a chem I'd never sampled previously) I could be taking something completely different to what the label says and not even know. Assuming it wasn't a fatal mix up. This business with so many "versions" of peevee is bad enough but the thought of something similar going on with more risky stuff is a real worry. That BDFLY biznizz was tragic as tragic could be.. but perhaps also a wakeup call many of us sorely needed :\

I suppose I've been lucky in this regard. I've never had a vendor exhibit this kind of incompetence.

To me it's always a bit unnerving testing out any new batch. I try to make a habit of testing out 2 or 3 milligrams with each new bag just to be certain it's not a potent and potentially dangerous substance in higher doses such as DOC. Although I must confess sometimes the eager (and irresponsible) beaver in me will forgo this practice, but usually only when receiving from trusted vendors or friends, or if the product is noticeably recognizable to me.

I've been toying with the idea of obtaining some kind of home reagent test, but I've not had the chance nor the need to research it as of yet as I've taken a break from the psychedelics. Anyone have any experience with this type of thing please chime in.

I believe it could happen, working in shipping/recieving/warehouse stuff that is all under FDA regulation, i really doubt that the people supplying RCs to the world use all the procedures that should be gone through to make sure nothing goes really wrong, and if something bad does happen, it can hopefully be dealt with better.

You get a batch in, you quarantine it from usable stock, from there it needs to be tested by chemical means (we have to do a lot of sterility testing, here it would be more along the lines of doing gcms testing to make sure of its contents and purity before shipping it out. Each batch received in should have a lot number to maintain inventory and amounts, and know what is being shipped where.

If all of this had been done the 2c-b-fly mishap probably would have been avoided. Even without testing done after receiving it from whoever synthed it, knowing exactly where all of these from the bad batch had been shipped the deaths that resulted could have been avoided or at least many of them.... With testing done, all could have been avoided.

Every man has to make his own choices. I'd hope that you know for sure what you're tripping on before eyeballing, though.

I know a fella who got what he THOUGHT was 2C-I from a well respected vendor. Turns out it was mislabeled and was really 2C-E. He eyeballed a dose of about 35mg because he wanted a really strong trip. Ended up getting around 50mg because the powder had clumped up a bit during transit.

Needless to say he had a really difficult experience.

I just noticed this in the 2C-I thread and thought I'd add it.
